Vodacom’s new Smart contracts compared

More data . Less or no sms per bundle. Most of the phone's that are sold these day's are smart phone and then Whatsapp becomes very popular .

Vodacom has radically simplified its contract packages

 When I read that, I scrolled down to confirm my suspicion

this article was probably written by Hilton Tarrant, I didn't bother reading the rest of it.

let's see, from vodacom you get:

Smart L 250 minutes 500sms 250data R499 - with a smarthphone (not stated which)

from cellc you can get:
apple iPhone 5 16GB
INCLUDES:
200 ANY TIME MINUTES
200 MONTHLY SMSs/MMSs
500 MB MONTHLY DATA
for : R399

that cellc offer seems way way better to me...

I'm mostly in wifi zones. With my previous iPhone 4 I got 500 MB a month and it rolled over for 60 days. I never went OOB with that. Left mobile data on all the time (in retrospect not a wise thing to do). Now with my Note 2 and 150 MB data I always leave mobile data off and only turn it on when I need it.

Can't take a chance with OOB. Those rates can really fsck up your life!

You can set a data limit in android.

I remember when the smart packages first came out, I thought it was a pretty decent deal. I have the smart R229, which gave me a motarola razr (great phone, equivalent to an S2), 150mb data, 150 sms, 75 minutes + 20 week end minutes. seems to work for me. Cell C would have cost more for their equivalent at the time :erm:

Also have that contract and phone.

Have the data limit setup and use wifi too.

Probably not, but he does have an excess of apostrophes. That has to count for something.

Further analysis suggests that he might be extremely possessive where phones and days are concerned.

Epic fail Vodacom, Epic fail. I think you should have someone in the office hand out facepalms with a ten pound hammer. It may improve your capacity to come up with something vaguely worthy.......

Quite frankly, I do not see the logic of this except to swindle people out of their money.

More sms's than MB's, and these contracts are targeted at smartphone users?

It would make more sense to swop around the numbers for sms's for those of MB's.

I'm not very happy with these latest Vodacom contracts. I'm still on the old iPhone 120s Contract that comes with 120 anytime minutes, 100sms and 500mb of data for R450pm. I really like this contract and think it is good value for money. All these new contracts come with tons of sms's and literally no data.

With all the smartphones coming out, data is the way to go. So i will most probably swap to CellC as they focus more on data which is what i'm after.

Can someone please point the Vodacom executives to this forum so that they may be enlightened?

haha....they most probably get a Talk 2000 and 30GB data bundle for free, so why would they be interested in your problems?

They don't experience it like you do, so they can't understand why you would have ANY problems with the big red network.

You are just ungrateful and should pay more! :(

LOL Kingrob :D, you are most likely right. I have been holding out to get the Xperia V or Z but with the new prices I may end up just living with my unreliable SGS2 and sticking with my current contract (potentially even retrieving my old c902 from the cupboard). What use is a smart phone if there is no data at an affordable price ......

Cut the minutes and SMS all together and just give me data.

I'd rather pay for my the calls and sms that I do make at full OOB rates...than never use them but still pay for them.

Which you realise is how they make their money...selling you something that you never use.
