Theres some idiot telling everyone they can get free gprs and calls, but its actually an airtime transfer ! He is trying to scam them.dont know how many fell for it.lol go see http://wapworld4u.wen.ru/wapit.html what will the networks do about this guy ? Nothing i suppose ! Lol

I say, make an example of this guy. AND DO IT PUBLICALLY!!! its not the first time it happens, and certainly wont be the last. If this guy goes through public humiliation and trial, more ppl will be aware of this, and less ppl will be scammed this way

@ ic,
no offence, but it is clear that you are implying that nitro53 been looking for free airtime, now, there is nothing wrong with that, as we are all looking for free stuff all the time not tru?

Actually one of my friends emailed me about this guy.he gave me the url and i checked it out for myself.i knew it was a scam so i reported it here.i am glad action has been taken against this fraudster ! :D if i come across any more scams ill post it here.dont know how many people that fraudster conned.you guys at vodacom teach these fraudsters a lesson ! That site was a wapsite and its easy to create.dont know how many more sites like these are out there trying to scam people.

I wasnt looking for airtime ! I am just looking for a girl.lol a blonde girl ! lol

Yes they do pop every now and then and we can only take action if we know about this. This guy's already taken some money off people so please be beware.

Remember the old saying: "If it's too good to be true, it probably is"

also the likelihood that this particular fraudster was doing something legal with all that airtime, is highly unlikely - IMO Nigerian drug pimper making calls from somewhere in Hillbrow...BEWARE: Nigerian drug pimps have you hooked...:D

They could also be selling it on to other people, transferring it off that sim to others.

Syndyre :p i am using virgin to wap and download so its almost free ! I just use vodacom to make calls and sms and mms.i hardly pay anything for gprs on virgin.i am using both networks :D i just want reasonable priced gprs on vodacom but we all know vodacom wont change their prices.

Yea vodacom is too money hungry. I wonder how many ppl use these scams just to get money to use gprs with.

Anyway, i am not ashamed to admit that i do sometimes look for free internet and airtime, which i would not have done in the first place if we were not overcharged as much

I think this can be avoided if, when transferring airtime, one is PROMPTED, "are you sure you want to give R30 airtime away to XXX?"

If you go through the menus, you are prompted. But you can also enter the complete code. As with everything, this was done on request of users who don't want to use the menus........

And this scam page just SUCKS:

Are they trying to look like the FBI? That chick looks like a druggy.
Anyway, the "purchase airtime" tries to link to a server which is currently offline (very different URL) and yeah... scam!!

I swear, forget free airtime, where the heck do I go to buy airtime online?? Do P&P offer it...? (going to try them now, apparently they might)

I do not know if this suites this thread:

I was contacted by Lood Strydom, 079-948-7188, (0799487188) regarding a quote for roofing 15 to 20 km outside Durbanville. My company is located in Somerset West, so it is quite a distance to travel. I am sure there must be reliable roofing companies in that area. The guy sounded wholesome, but a sleight bit stupid. He could not explain exactly where his farm is. Neither could he send me a Whatsapp location. I tried to phone him a couple of time, but he did not answer. He eventually phoned me back. Then he asked me to buy him airtime, to save him a trip to town. Then I remembered a previous similar scam. This time a Herman, 079-412-5257, (0794125257) called me for a quote somewhere between Hermanus and Stanford with a similar story. Needles to say I blocked his number and bought him nothing.
