Hi all,

I'm posting this thread, so I can inform you guys of a issue I'm having, and maybe warn others about it, and also, I want to tweet Vodacom about this issue so they can read it in detail.

My issue is on my Samsung Galaxy S4 using the Vodacom app.

Basically, I have 3 contracts and what I do is use the 1 contracts "airtime" to buy data for my contact that I use on the S4.
Now, whenever I log into the Vodacom app, I login with my main number (number Y) which shows me the summary and details about each contract number (I can jump between all 3)

Now when I login, I goto the number X and want to 'buy data bundles' for number Y - I choose whatever package I want and bam it buys BUT! It doesn't take the 'money' from number X, it takes it from number Y which pisses me off!

Now, last month, I did this, and it happened then I figured "I" did something wrong, but this month, I did it, and it again and I did it so slowly that i double checked everything I did step by step, end result... data purchased off number Y instead of number X which has like R600+ airtime on it!

The process works perfectly via the web site (www.vodacom.co.za) but not on the Vodacom app but as 'murphy' has it, whenever I run out of data, I'm no where near a PC and need to use the Vodacom app, I've even tried to use the *100# feature but the options are not easy to understand, actually, it's changed since I used it about 3 months ago because it actually 'confirmed' which you what you were doing (you want to purchase 1GB data for number Y from number X) which it doesn't do anymore!

Long story short, last month I paid my gat off for data, and now this month, I'm doing it AGAIN because of the Vodacom app, so my choices are;

A) Either Vodacom fix the issue - maybe even not charging me for the data and take the 'amount' from number X (which I don't mind) or
B) I stop using the Vodacom app completely because there are bugs / issues with it, I have seen it multiple times.

If anyone has had this issue or what not, please let me know.

What is the vodacom app.

If you are on the better os, install onavo count.

My Vodacom is a application developed by Vodacom that allows you to 'manage' your Vodacom account (once you registered and logged into it)
You can buy bundles, check how much airtime etc you have.

With that said, I've been checking the application over the last couple of days since I created the thread and was contacted by Vodacom, this app is really not up to scratch.
I've played with it using my WiFi at home and while at work using the 3G connection - it doesn't matter what connection is in use (as an example) my bill is sometimes R0 when it most defiantly isn't R0 according to the app... many times it can't give me balances of anything - I hardly ever send SMS's and I get 200 free, last night it told me I used 100 SMS's but then when I checked this morning, I had used like 10 or something.

This program can't be trusted... honestly!

Now, using it to buy bundles (as per my original issue) has resulted in my paying for something I shouldn't be paying for... and Vodacom won't even dare offer to assist by allowing me to not pay for the data and instead take it from the place it should've been taken from in the original instance.

**Vodacom has contacted me but nothing has been done to resolve the issue**

I had huge problems with the My Vodacom app, charging me for data when the app said it hadn't gone through (we have an error). I was very impressed with the Vodacom support staff who sorted it out within half a day...

My problem here lies where Vodacom will probably claim that I didn't do things properly and thus why the data was purchased incorrectly, but yeah, I'm just going to wait and see what happens.

Now this is interesting;

According to "My Vodacom" (When I log in with my main number)
It's balances are as follows;

31m 13s of 75m 0s
188 of 200 SMS's
568.28MB of 1.29GB (This is the extra data that was bought 'incorrectly')

Now, when I go on my phone, there is a "Vodacom USSD" app which I always update, but never really ever use, so now, I just decided to check it's balances;

39 minutes
342 SMS's
668.88MB data (1.30GB Night Owl Data)

Clearly there is a massive difference! :mad: and the 'check' was done like a minute apart.

What do the geniuses there say?

I just compared my android Vodacom app with the bunde summary on my system. Data balance seems accurate. SMS balance seems accurate. It is however not reflecting all my minutes. It is only reflecting the minutes left from September, and not the minutes left over from last month that expires end of this month.

I have received no reply from Vodacom other than the message telling me that they have forwarded the query onto the IT department.

i have had no problems with the my vodacom app on my s4. i regularly use it to buy once-off data bundles for my phone and for my wife's phone (a second number on my account).

i love the app. it is easy to use, and (for me) it works and does what it should.

Just remember, I did mention that it did work, once!
Since then, it has not worked.
The next time around, I used the USSD option to purchase the data bundle, then I tried the Vodacom app and it didn't work, then I tried it again and that is the cause of this thread - because there is no bloody way in hell I'm going to try a 3rd time and get billed again unnecessarily.

I assume you have got the latest version of the app?

I assume you have got the latest version of the app?

That is correct, as of right now, the latest version installed is 3.0.0

I log in with my master account number which obviously allows me to do whatever I want with all the numbers.
If I go via Vodacom.co.za I don't have any issues, but via the app is where the problems come in.

Hi!

Just a quick update.
I did checks about 1 minute ago.

I logged into www.vodacom.co.za
33m 39s of 150m 00s
340 of 400
551.68 MB of 1.98 GB

Then I logged into the Vodacom App
25m 38s of 75m 0s
186 of 200
551.68mb of 1.29GB

And then finally I used the Vodacom USSD program on my phone
33 minutes
340 sms's
548.40mb data
1.30gb night owl data

Note the differences!
I wish I could take screenshots, but I don't have 'another' camera close by.

Obviously, I'm not concerned about the fact that each program shows different stuff...
My main issue (as mentioned before) is that I can't trust the Vodacom App or the Vodacom USSD program to purchase bundles from contract X for contract Y (master account) - If I try do that, it buys it from contract Y thus adding costs! :mad:
