Humor aside:

"black people" is a generic term used in legislation intended to redress the injustices of Apartheid, as per section 1 of the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998, and section 1 of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53 of 2003.

The term PDI used to be used, now they use the term 'black', which is just confusing... but now I guess in the new SA one is either 'black' or 'non-black'. Pre 1994 it was white or non-white. Some call it Apartheid 2. I wouldn't go to that extreme, but it does seem a half-step in that direction.
