Ever since last Wednesday the BIS service at my home location has been working really well.
On device web browsing is very fast. I am experiencing no disconnects / time-outs.
Web pages open instantaneously. BBM messages go through immediately. Emails hit my device timeously.
My Blackberry experience is finally working the way it was designed to.

I have a feeling the backhaul on the site that serves me has been upgraded by Vodacom.

I will refrain from thanking Vodacom simply because I have suffered for years with the Vodacom BIS service, and choose not be thankful today !

Jannie , if i give you the cell id of the site that serves me can you check if the backhaul on that site was upgraded in the last week ?

You can, but everyone should have seen a substantial improvement from Wednesday. What speed do you get on Fancy Speedtest? I've been sitting on 1 to 2Mb/s.

I've just done a couple of speed tests using Fancy Speedtest.
I'm getting around 1.2Mbps.

So if it wasn't the backhaul that was upgraded on the site serving me, what has Vodacom done that has brought the BIS service back to life ?

Must say I'm also getting way better speeds, I thought it was just because I was by the tower and the shopping center was pretty much empty, +1 to Vodacom then! Also quite keen to know what you guys did

I can't say the same here. Signal has been off a few days in the week in Mpumalanga with Vodacon and BIS speeds suck as well. I've also had BBM problems. My complaints fall on deaf ears though, so who cares. At least I'm on prepaid and can port my number any time I please, which will be soon I think.

Pretty much what we started a while ago. Just going step by step. Latest changes on Wednesday. When you see complaints from some around slow BIS downloads from 'certain' sites, smile. ;)

Jannie the cell id's I'm picking up are 12011, 12014 and 12016.
Can you please check if that site has had a backhaul upgrade ?
I would appreciate it.

After working well in June the Vodacom BIS service has yet again gone down the drain.
Opening the google home page takes around 5 minutes, if at all.
I primarily use the BIS service for emails, but when I want to occassionally use my Blackberry to browse the internet it never works.
It almost ALWAYS timeouts and when it rarely works it is slow to the point of being useless.

When is Vodacom going to solve this problem Jannie ? ? ?
Why does Vodacom charge me R59,oo every month knowing full well they can't provide me with the service
they're happy to charge me for ? ? ?

Is this not dishonesty and theft ? ? ? ! ! !

Vodacom have destroyed BIS and I am sure if blackberry did not have such issues in the company, someone could complain and they would investigate.
IMO they are killing the service we are paying for.
