Vodacom Cell Tower Installation... Is it possible?

I was wondering if any one knows if this service is possible..
I own a large apartment complex in an area with little to no cell service, I was wondering if anyone knows of a system where you can get Vodacom or any other mobile provider to mount an antenna on the building. Where they would pay me for using the building as an antenna tower and they would gain having reliable service in the area..
does this exist and if so who/where should I approach?
 
Person to ask would be VodacomData. I do think he is going to be very busy hunting for eggs this weekend. Perhaps give him a shout Dinsdag ok?
 
its entirely possible. speak to the radio planning department at VodaCom. as a matter of interest which area are you in?

Who do I speak to about when my local tower will be upgraded to 3G?

I live in a remote rural area (70km from PMB) and I want to know if the Vodacom tower in my area will ever be upgraded to 3G so I can use it for broadband.

Who do I contact? The vodacom phone support does not know.
 
I'm in a similar position, my local tower only supports EDGE. The non-official answer from VC is that the tower will only be upgraded if warranted by the traffic load.

Or I guess if you have enough cash to sponsor the upgrade.

That can set you back a couple of million. :)

Vodacom will only upgrade a tower if there is demand for it in the town. My mom lives in a small town on the West Coast, and they were upgraded to 3G a year or two back.
 
You guys are still lucky, my parents live on a farm and don't even have a cell signal and without proper telkom lines for internet, Vsat seems to be the only option for them @ something like R1k for 1GB P/M, not to mention the installation costs. I have often wondered if vodacom wont put up a tower on their farm if they offered a peace of ground for it.

No telkom lines means no backhaul. Unless Vodacom used microwave for backhaul, but not if even that is possible on a farm. Even if they did offer a little piece of land for a tower or micro station, the equipment itself is extremely expensive so I dont think this is feasible.

If the 082155 helpline cannot assist they would normally log a Service request to Networks who will then check and get back to you.

Hi gentlemen...Can any of you give me any info on the cellphone tower story...we currently have endless problem with the Vodacom signal and would like to know more on the issue of the cell tower on my property.

Hi m Leon in kzn from South coast under mthwalume area it a rural area we need Vodacom tower so what we must do for us to get tower installed we have enough place to install it
