Vodacom CEO's biggest challenges

Sorry Shameel, but with Neotel your are buying a dud. If their lack of enterprise services are anything to go by, I would be really worried about their fixed line offer (my opinion on my blog)

On the upside, at least with Neotel's billing mess and considering that the valuation is not changing, at least now Neotel will be able to invoice more than before. Interestingly enough I heard that CellC is hosting with Neotel and this would probably mean that CellC would depart (the same happened when Vodacom bought Gateway Comms and lost a ton of business when MTN left).

Neotel... I don't know. DFA and vumatel etc achieved more in less time in my opinion.

I have a solution: Eskom can loadshed the SABC to free up some spectrum (and free up my need for a tv license at the same time).

“We’re falling over ourselves finding increasingly complex ways of dealing with massive increases in data traffic with no corresponding increase in our spectrum allocation,” said Joosub.

Bulll...shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Why do I get a great signal, but incredibly crappy speeds at my house from VC, yet at seemingly any shopping center, where it is FAR more densely populated and the spectrum is FAR more contended, I get the a lesser strength signal and incredible speeds? It seems that as soon as you move away from the more profitable areas, the spectrum is capable of less. It's an amazing little quirk of science!

The German government has solved this problem brilliantly - the operators can only erect new antennas/use new spectrum in densely populated areas if they cover a certain amount of suburbs/outlying areas first. The cherries become a reward.
