Vodacom contract upgrade ripoff

Just a rant about my latest contract upgrade with Vodacom.

I got the Galaxy S3 lte at the beginning of the month on a smartdata 229 contract, with the 1 gig for the first 3 months promotion. Now they activate the contract on the last day of the month(contract was supposed to be activated 1 December) and I only get 34 meg of the first gig because the allocate it pro rata.

This means that it is not actually 1 gig for three months, but 2 gigs, and how many days you have left for the first month .

Not quite 1 gig for the first 3 months
 
That is the normal way VDC allocates their data. The consultant should have informed you of this. If he/she didn't, then ask Jannie/Ockie to assist.

EDIT: And if it was agreed to start on the 1st only they should add another month cost free to you

Actually their upgrades start on the last day of the month. I just did 2 two upgrades the last few weeks and on both times I was told the upgrade will happen on the last day as both contracts had been upgraded to different plans.

Actually "Jannievanzyl" does not accept PM but "VodacomData" does accept PM - Just tried it Sir - It works!!

I have a customer who took out the S3 LTE deal that also came with 1 gig x 3 months. I see the system also allocated his first month pro rata. I will be forwarding his number as a example to my FSC and ask her to clarify as to whether that pro rated first month counts towards the 3 months or not.

Will post here once I hear back.

Not yet. I will email her again now and make some fire under her. FCS's are on the road most of the time though so they can take a bit of time to get back to written queires.
 
Just one final update today from the call center. Basically I only get 2 gigs as the first part will allways be allocated pro rata.
The way the agent just spoke to me, as well as the fact that I really feel this promotion was handled completely wrong makes me regret signing up with vodacom again. I just wish I had proper signal with any of the other providers at the moment.
 
FSC confirmed. Full 1 gig will be received for the following two months after the 1st month was allocated pro rata. What must be remembered that she did not mention...but what I think is importnat to keep in mind is that yes, you get the data pro rata....but you are also charged pro rata for the first month.
