Vodacom data billing increment changes: how it works

Yea i read the first bit and thought, ok, so what

Which means I've done my job. The change has an impact, but there have been a lot of conspiracy theories in industry that I wanted to address. Hence the article.

My understanding as well.

Yeah I also think the poster was confusing MTN with Cell C. As I have it, MTN's billing increment is 1KB, with a minimum charge of 2c per session.

congrats to Vodacom for providing details and a warning before hand.

Actually the change was made in mid-October. Forgot to add that information to the article. I've updated it.

For argument sake, since the sole purpose of this mechanism is to reduce system load.. Thus helping them to save on maintenance costs and all; why don't they absorb the cost instead of making us pay for it..

Read the article, maybe?

I think VC is moving closer to real time data billing, i hope! and easily accessible URL info

Vodacom should not compare themselves to MTN, as on MTN mimimum charge on reconnect apply only to the customers without active bundle. With active bundle minimum charge applies once per 24-hours since opening PDP content. Opening and closing PDP content (many times) do not cause rounding up, which makes if complely different than Vodacom.

Thanks for all the detail on PDP sessions. It all make a lot more sense now!
