Vodacom Fibre

I've filled out the form on their website twice, and it is now a couple of days.

Designing a product is one thing, supporting and maintaining it is another. The Sales Department in any organisation should be the best. If the Sales Department is bad, don't expect anything better when it comes to after sales service and support.
 
When I tried to get hold of Vodacom Business about 4 years ago it was a nightmare.
When I got through to the call centre, they said send an email to the sales team. No one ever called me back.

Me too.....doesn't sit well with me.

MTN had a full plan to push in a small cell in our complex, which would have included an fibre route and Yvonne wanted nothing to do with it.

As part of the Vodacom pitch in the Yvonne Nathan email, one of the first things they said was that there will be no cell tower installed.
But somehow Vodacom will deliver full LTE signal to the complex as part of the install... which I dont know how they will do without a cell tower?
I'm not going to be too difficult about it... Id really like fibre to be delivered to our complex asap and if it means Vodacom then so be it.
 
We were pitched to, too (also Summercon/Yvonne Nathan). The Fibreconnect guy had no answer for me when I showed him the Fibrehoods offering (http://www.fibrehoods.co.za/), just that their prices would be coming down (20%-30% which is still more that double the Fibrehoods pricing). The bit that gets me is why should I have to pay for all the other value-add (read "bloat") - why can't they just offer the naked line, or even line and ISP but without all the other stuff that seems to be pushing the value up to 3x Fibrehoods? Essentially, my gripe is that if I sign up for a 24 month contract, I have to pay for services I don't need even when Vodacom finally releases the open access option (we were told 6 months from installation)?

Yvonne told me over email that she is being pitched to by Fibrehoods too - I'm not sure if it's simple placation or if she's really looking at it. Except now I'm torn as to whether to sign up for Vodacom at 3x the price just to make sure we atually get FTTH!?

No question here, just getting it off my chest...
 
Not sure how many people replied positively in my complex, but I did get an email from Fibrehoods today showing a download and upload speed of over 98Mbps, and saying they were hoping to be in my are within two years (although I think that was a generic message).
 
So Vodacom Fibre was proposed to our complex. This while I'm waiting for BitCo to come install their dish at my house.

Is anyone using Vodacom Fibre yet? I'm quite keen to get it. It will all just depend if the rest of the people in my complex are keen too.
 
My next hope after Vodacom fibre fail is that Telkom might replace our copper with fibre. Considering existing people have adsl and telephones in my complex, this is probably my best chance at getting fibre.
So to answer your question, no one who has posted on this thread has Vodacom fibre as yet.

It's a shame that your complex was so against it. I really hope that mine will see the light!

It wasn't so much as they were against it... just that they only need 1gb on 3g for their Facebooking.
Hope it works out for u.
