Vodacom gets coverage in underground Gautrain stations

Gautrain commuters on Vodacom will now be able to connect to the network while in an underground station.

When your paying customers can't even send a SMS (nevermind make a phone call) due to your pathetic network, absolutely nothing gets done.

The company said it has been working with the relevant government departments for the past three months to roll out to the underground stations.

Then that is obviously very, very misleading...

Introducing a business-class train to the movers & shakers (rabble is kept off this line very effectively) and claiming such wonderful ideas as empower its citizens and to expand the economic activity of the province without cellphone coverage was just plain idiotic.

I sit in my office block in Durbanville, and every third call is either a dropped call or silence. Pathetic.

Sigh. I used Durbanville as an example. It's pretty schitty in most places. Some are better than others, but mostly schit. Upgrade the towers people actually use. Areas are expanding rapidly, more people moving in. You can see this everywhere (perhaps not the Southern Suburbs so much), and cell towers get congested, and no real upgrade takes place. And then they go and do the Gautrain and brag about it

Well I use the Gautrain occasionally and I'm on Vodacom so I'm happy...

Actually, , come to think of it, , I'm not happy - at least when I'm out of coverage down there no one can bother me.

I get your point completely on them not upgrading in other places, however

a. they are not unique in this respect - all the cell companies are guilty of this, and
b. people such as the good residents of Constantia don't help one bit.
