I hope someone can help me with this. I have tried searching the forum, but i can't find anything similar. Perhaps someone can point me to a similar thread that i have missed.

My problem is as follows.

I have a Vodacom Huawei E220 3G modem. Operating System is Win XP service pack 2.

After i have been connected to the internet for a while on my home pc i loose my connection and get the following error code after connecting again (Error 633), after clicking the redial button nothing happens. This problem has cropped up in the last week or so and i don't have this problem on another machine on which i use the modem.

I have not installed any new software. I am using the Huawei dashboard to connect and i have disconnected my internal Lucent Win Modem, but i have not removed it.

Any ideas?

From the FAQ:

It's a Windows Error: DUN 633 - The port is already in use or is not configured for Remote Access dialout.

Thanks for the link Vodacom3g. It is strange that this error will crop up all of a sudden, but i suspose thats the beauty of software.

Thanks for the help.

Best is to try and avoid the disconnects in the first place. In order:

1) 3G-only profile.
2) External antenna.

I got my hands on Regcure and ran the program, as per the site from Vodacom3g. It found some errors and corrected them, but i'm still getting the 633 Error Code. IS there perhaps another program which i should use?

If i select 3G-only profile will i still be able to connect to the net, my 3g signal is not to strong where i am. Other question i have is, i thought external antenna's were not available for the E220 modem?

Could this be my only problem as the error has only cropped up in the last month or so?

I would stay away from these registry cleaners. They seem to do more damage than good.

Best is to try the 3G-only profile and see what it does.

There is an coupler device from Poynting that works with the E220.

The registry cleaner is now history.

Can you please tell me where i select the 3g only profile? I have had a look in the control panel under modems and in the Huawei dashboard, but i can't find anything like that?

I'm also having the same problem on my notebook computer (with the same modem) which is a new machine, could i have a virus of some sorts?

I think you need to download Vodafone Mobile Connect version 9.3 from Vodacom's Website. Do that first.

You can find it here.

Thanks Iam3G, I am currently using the Huawei dashboard to connect to the internet, do i still need the updated Vodafone Mobile Connect even though i'm using another dashboard?

I'm using my modem on 3 different machines and only have a problem on two of them.

Install VMC 9.3 on the machines you have a problem with, and see if it makes any difference.

Note, you dont have to uninstall the Hauwei Dashboard, just leave that as is.

Will give it a try and let you know, thanks.

Ady, download the updated Hauwei software on your desktop or folder, then extract it.

Exit the Hauwei dashboard, otherwise the setup program won't pick your modem up.

Run the setup.exe file and install the updated software on your modem.

After the update is complete, disconnect your modem from your pc.

Uninstall the Hauwei software from your pc, go to add/remove programs.

Plug in your Hauwei modem again, it will find all the drivers and install the updated software on your pc.

That's it, you're done. :)
