Hi,

Your case caused quite an lot of activity! Including getting the credit passed.

Will check where it is, but we know how fast these credits tend to be....

Break out the party favours ........ this must be a first ; Vodacom has passed a credit.

Must have been the corporate equivalent of a kidney stone.

Hold your horses, don't get too happy, they only passed the credit, the account wasn't actually credited yet. :p

Why did the problem cause a stir?

The free mailbox is only supposed to be on contract bundles, not ad-hoc bundles. But ad-hoc users got the free 1G mailbox and when you changed to a lower bundle the system treated you like a contract subscriber downgrading your contract and started billing you.

Ad-hoc bundles should never get the free 1G mail boxes. You can just imagine the chaos as you change you bundle from month to month:

Month1: Buy 500M bundle, get free 1G mailbox
Month2: Only buy 250M bundle, now what? Do we delete all your mail except 5Mb or do we charge the R29?
Month3: Buy 500Mb bundle again, do we stop charging or do we give you a 1G mailbox again.

So you actually picked up a flaw in the system. You seem to be good at this!! :) Second time now you found a bug!

Question is why give someone a free mailbox in the first place without them asking for it. Even with the 5MB mailbox you have to activate it first. I can't believe that this is the first time this has happened. Are there so few people using ad-hoc bundles that no one ever went up to 500MB and then below again or did they simply not notice it? This one is REALLY unbelievable.

The whole amount was deducted from my bank account. No credit was passed. My latest invoice also shows the full amount. This is after someone at Vodacom called me and told me that my account will be credited.

Vodacom3G, please follow up for me.

Complain on hellopeter.com...

They must respond to complaints posted here (if they are on the list of companies that respond), and the whole world can then see if they did something about it.

Are you kidding? Acording to some people on this forum you have everybody's number. ;)

All part of a cunning plot to lure forumites into a false sense of security so we can track you and abuse the information gleaned in such a nefarious way.

(Cue manic laughter and gleeful rubbing of hands....)

A bit dramatic if you want to lure people isn't it?
