Vodacom launches 5G mobile network

Vodacom has launched Africa’s first live 5G mobile network in three cities – Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town – with further rollouts planned to other parts of the country.

This network supports both mobile and fixed-wireless services, and is currently available on 20 live 5G sites – 18 of which are in Gauteng, and 2 in Cape Town.

I don't see any pricing for this on their site but I do see they have two 5G routers for sale now.

Damn - not quite the reaction I expected of the news. Even memes dropping. Are people experiencing Lockdown trauma or Freedom Anxiety?

“Vodacom and MTN are ripping South Africans off”. This is the view of many people who pay R99 for 1GB of prepaid data.

Hopefully MBB does a few tests/review on the 5G network soon. Would be cool to test the OOB can be racked up in say a minute or two.
