yes, cell c becomes really expensive when you start including the price of the phone. unless you are someone who uses a lot of airtime/data.
the vodacom deal would be better for me for example.

That said, Redbull mobile still gives some of the best all round value.
250 a month gets you a mid range smart phone
500MB data
200 anytime minutes
100 sms
and reasonable OOB rates

I think there is....OOB is where most people get killed...
 
and if you are using only 150MB per month then you are not really using that smartphone...
I use 1.2gb and over 10GB over wifi LOL
 
I just inquired about this contract in the deals thread yesterday.

The Motorola Razr is a good deal at R229, though you risk the OOB shark at R1/MB. If these were customisable smart plans, I'd swop the smss for more data.

But how are the minutes used - as per second or full minute even if only spoken for seconds?

That's a deal breaker question. The link on Vodacom's site doesn't work for me.

It is a good deal as you long as you avoid the OOB shark. I have a S3 on a R359 per month business contract and my OOB rates are R2 per meg. I have to be very careful to avoid going over. (Thanks toMy Data Manager app, it won't happen). Vodacom does not allow for a top up option on these packages. It is clear that they make their money and loads of it from the OOB part.

All Smart Plans excet the Smart Light is billed per second from first second. Smart Light is billed per minute (full minute for 1st minute...then in 30 second increments there after)

Cell C's out of bundle rate per MB is 99c on Straight Up offers. It's only 15c per MB on the recently announced data bundles.
So, in this case, Cell C is only 1c cheaper than Vodacom per MB. Cell C has better voice rates though at 99c per minute.
 
More bundle bull****.

Give me the choice to buy each items seperately at a GOOD PRICE.

Regarding this 15c/MB thing... me and some buddies were messing around with it after CellC announced it and we found that you have to at least buy the cheapest bundle to get the rate of 15c/MB. So it's not the default price. We tested a prepaid number by just adding airtime and streaming youtube and it cost 99c/MB. Once you add a bundle, it's down to 15c/MB.
That being said, the cheapest bundle is R1.50!! So you just have to remember to keep adding that bundle on the 1st of the month (...no recurring option for prepaid yet as far as I could see)

Well said, people tend to forget this piece of information. The 15c/MB only works if you buy a data bundle first.
