Anyway.. seeing that vodacom are pushing their mms campaign lately it would be nice if their mms's actually worked!

1.I would say on average about 20% of the time i tried to send a mms , it fails and resends 15 minutes later. Its not a bad signal issue, my gprs connection holds for hours aswell so quality seems to be good, it seems to specifically be mms related.

2.Super huge long delays with mms's, i've had mms's take over a week to be delivered, sometimes its minutes and sometimes its hours for it to be delivered.

At this point i could never rely on mms to be a commuication method. its more of a " well here's a picture of my cat looking funny" hope you get it.

Not saying it accounts for 100% of all cases, but we find a number of handsets are battling with MMS management resulting in retries to get the MMS through.

For example, the 3 MMS's you received; the system logs shows that it pushed the MMS once (this will result in your phone beeping, indicating a MMS is available) but then the phone failed to retrieve it. The system then pushed twice more before it got retrieved. As you know (too well!) this happened while you were asleep so the question is why the phone did not retrieve it the first time?

What handset was this btw?

I have endless problems with sending MMS's from my K-Jam. We've traced it a few times and it's clear the phone does not complete the transaction. Receiving (mostly) works.

BTW, your problem report resulted in a re-tune of the transmit times as well as the retry time-out, so thanks for that.

opefully the phones will get the technology stabilised soon.

And another thing is the unwilling help of the vodacom customer care to help setup MMS on a vodacom card in a D500 handset that was bought on the cellC network!

I spent a good few hours doing manual setting and attempting OTA settings for this phone but could never get MMS to work on it, eventually went and visited the vodacom shop at the mall where they absoultely refused to help us put the MMS settings on the phone, even though we were now using it on their network with their sim in it. Their answer was to get support from samsung, now I cannot see how samsung are going to be able to help me with vodacoms specific settings!

I'm on a nokia 6600... i send mms's to nokia 3230's,6230is,n80s samsung e340's. Delivery time for all of them is an issue. Delivery reports for mms have also stopped working

:o You did actually tell me.....forgot...

If you want we can do some traces to see what's going wrong?

Wat version firmware are you on?

Btw, if mms's cost the same as sms's then shouldn't sms bundles be valid for mms's as well?

I'm on firmware 4.09.1 which is actually really old, but vodacom wanted to charge me to upgrade it, so i left it as is!

On the contrary, some phone manufacturers know more about which settings will work for your model of phone. And they definitely have them before the networks do.

Quite surprised they haven't got it sorted by now, its fairly old technology.
They are doing their best. You can read into that what you like :D
Nope, only to send, similar to SMS.

And if it doesn't go the first time, send it again and hope you don't get charged twice. Mind you, if you're on pre-paid, how would you know.
