Vodacom network complaints (4 November 2011)

I wish I could cancel my Vodacom contract and move over to the yellow guys! No signal anywhere, compared to MTN users.

Just received an update from Vodacom: "The issue has been resolved – it appears to have impacted a limited number of customers.* We’re working with BlackBerry to establish the details."

Just spoke to the lady at the Vodacom Shop where I do my business and she said they have thousands of blackberry users switching to other phones, the Samsung Galaxy S2 being the most popular. So I guess this will all even itself out soon.

This would be great if its true, less users hogging the BB Bandwidth. Thousands @ their shop seems a bit exaggerated though, the last time I was @ a Vodashop it took me almost an hour just to do a sim swop.

haha, you need to find another branch. I did a complete contract upgrade and walked out with a new phone in 30 mins.
And the Carlton Center Branch is ALWAYS busy.

They are still yellow for a reason.
No innovation, and their front house service sucks... badly. And their network which is so 'stable' and matched by overpricing ... well it works at times.

I'd suffer 2 weeks of downtime from vodacom before I subject myself to the incompetence and lack of vision of the boring yellow company.

Just my 2 cents

Cant be because of RIM this time as my internet was down last night on my Nokia and I had to switch to my cell c sim (which only has edge coverage in my area)

Wife can't get reception either

Wife can't get reception either. No they are working on it. 3 years later. Another reason why I just cannot go with them ever again.

I'd be surprised if they did 100 contracts in a month... nevermid 1000 bb contracts.

I was considering swapping as well... but now I wonder if they have stock !

I had 3g and gprs issues last night on Vodacom? and I don't use a BB.

I'm having problems with my modem connection. The connection is a joke !!! Its so slow I can make coffee before a page loads !

The article is mainly about BIS but I believe I experienced issues around simply making phonecalls

People love to hammer poor RIM. Vodacom problems are Vodacom problems, ie: NOT RIM! Not surprised that users who don't understand that switch phones because of it. Very sheeplike behaviour.

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread:
If you think Vodacom delivers pre-arranged and vital international roaming facilities, think again- there a good chance they will not- When you are overseas without roaming, don’t expect much help from them either.
I requested and received international roaming service from Vodacom many years ago. Three times last year I found my roaming service to be inactive, despite checking with Vodacom before I left. On each occasion instead of just resuming the service, I was instructed to meet Vodacom's “special new” requirements in order to get roaming service reinstated. One of these conditions is/was impossible to meet. To re-instate roaming took Vodacom a roughly week on each occasion, during the week Vodacom repeatedly told me that roaming was enabled yet my phone was dead- a travelling companion had Vodacom roaming services.
When approached for an assurance that it would not happen a 4th time, Vodacom CEO office’s response was to offer profuse apologies and to deny access to the Vodacom Community web-site to discuss their general response of "That's the way it is -live with it". I wonder how the Vodacom CEO handles such poor service when he travels internationally.
