If your phone is set to auto-update on Network Operator Time, check whether the date is correct.

I only realised today the date on my phone was set to Tuesday 24th February 2009. Turned off Network Operator Time and corrected it. Decided to see if I could replicate the issue, and turned it back onto Network Operator Time, but it shows the correct date now.

Maybe it's an isolated issue, but anyway, check your phone date and report back if it's also wrong?

I didn't realise we supply network time.

Vodacom doesn't? OK cool, my bad, was suckered by the phone into thinking it updates the time from the network, since it didn't complain when I activated it a year ago. Wrong date probably due to something else then. Ta.

Think they do

:confused::confused:

I think Voda does do the auto time update - when I was in the UK roaming - network updated my time and when I got back SA,was prompted that network wanted to update my date and time, did it - so it worked for me.

Thanks for your feedback, yebocan.

vodacom3g, can you confirm whether Vodacom does network time auto-update?

What phone was this? Maybe it gets the time from a time server?

Phone was set to update automatically and then sometime during the night, it went an hour behind.
I was wondering why my dog woke me at 4:15 this morning. let her out and went back to bed only to receive a call an hour later (5:15) from my fiancee to find out where I am since it's 6:15 and I usually pick her up before then.

Damn you Vodacom! ended up having to just jump out of bed, grab my stuff and then shower and get ready at gym close to my workplace to avoid hectic traffic.

Phone Helen Naude and ask her for the correct time.

:D
I wonder, can network time be manipulated dynamically and per-person basis?
If somebody want to put you in jail, they can proof that you were in the wrong time in the wrong place!!!

Isn't it that if the time is way too far out of date the server/your phone might have issues sending/accepting the network time?
My old phone used to reset the date and was unable to make a network connection due to the date being completely wrong (2001 or something), but manually adjusting to the correct year and month would allow the time be corrected to the network time.

Curious to know the answer.

Sure there is a setting that can be changed to reflect a different time. Very much doubt this can be done on a per person basis.
