This is not Vodacom specific. I tried to phone MTNSP just now and I tried 6 times before the call went through, "network busy".

5 hours downtime.... mmmmm, would love to see the SLA on this

But vodacom, i've had enough of you guys now, been with you for the last 10 years, but im done now.

Who wants my money!?

and to think a few years back we survived without any cellphones now this .
Think they messed up with the RICA somehow trying to cut ppl over maybe bit by bit starting at 13:00 and now they fooked it up.
AAAAA well sit and wait YAWN
A few years ago we also did without email and internet. Business models changed to incorporate these technologies, and they have become integral to the way businesses operate now. An outage of this nature is disastrous, despite having lived without cellular networks a few years ago.

It's like when commercial planes became mainstream - people would have thought that they got along fine travelling by boat. But the fact is it's become an important facet to the way we live and plan our lives now.

Well.....not so cool....imagine you were stranded on the highway with your car now. You can't phone anyone and it's a dangerous area.....

Person wants to phone the police....fire brigade....hospital.....

Im sure you meant this comment as a joke, but it actually has very serious implications.

Well you do what we did pre '94 before CellPhones.

A few years ago???? I have using the net since 1996.

Numerous Vodacom subscribers reported this morning (30 June 2011), that just after midday...

On a light side, find it pretty interesting that some Vodacom subscribers can see into the future.

Yeah true but still it shows you how quick the world is evolving hey hectic buddy in pta city is saying there back up

CORRCECTION its was on

We planned our lives differently then. Business models and our personal lives have evolved to incorporate technology. We're more productive because of it. You cannot compare across the two eras.

Yes yes, you get the meaning. I only said that because he said it :)

I swear I must have been the first f ing person to go down as posted here lol.
I specifically signed my contract on the new CPA, 1 April.
I think it is time to take them to task. Fukers

From the voting, it seems the Northern Cape is not affected, unless there aren't any NC members on MyBB.

Yup Marine1 and I were the first to start posting and it was before 12 today. i believe it started around 11:15am.

I have had service intermittently, but as of right now 15:21 I cannot use Internet or make calls (located in Sandton)

The vote should indicate which service provider as well, as the odd MTN report seems to indicate issues there too.

Seems like Cell-C is the most reliable? MTN and Vodacom both have had major outages recently

Interesting how i can phone VC numbers from my VC cellphone, but not from a landline...... and then only after you've tried like a thousand times it connects..

My cellphone is with MTN
People are e-mailing me at the office, saying my cellphone is going to voicemail... and its here, with full signal on my desk...
I cannot send or receive SMS messages either... Phoned MTN, told me the network is overloaded and should be better tomorrow.
