Vodacom Outage

"Vodacom has also informed MyADSL that the problem is of a technical nature and definitely not network related."

WTF does this mean? The "network" is made up of the technical elements with some branding thrown on top...

They're saying that the physical network wasn't down, but that there was some kind of problem with the subscriber base data (probably with the system that handles the list of numbers that it recognizes as users on the network?)

According to Vodacom the problem is mostly resolved, and they anticipate having the rest of the services restored very shortly.

Translation:
Our coffee machine is fine. The network is not fine.

B@stards - I really needed my cellphone today (got a huge rollout to do) and the network goes pear-shaped.

wait wait, MTN will announce they also had a problem, before vodacom, and fixed it before anybody even noticed!!

Any chance of claiming damages?

Sounds like finger problems. Pity they can't blame Telkom or Eskom!

Chuck got his account from Vodacom and roundhouse kicked the network!

Ask albert123, he knows!

chuck doesnt need a service provider, he's hair provides him with all the broadband he needs!!

which will then in turn blame the old government (which now is like 12 years ago!) but then everybody is satisfied not to sort the problems out cause "its not our fault"

its like when someone resigns at a company, for the next 6 months everything and anything thats wrong gets blamed on that person :)

Any idea when this will be 'completely resolved'? Its 12 pm now, 7 hours later and it is still screwing around with my day...

I am currently on Vodacom 3G, just came back online for me. Was offline the entire morning.

Official Vodacom Statement

Vodacom wishes to confirm that a small percentage of their subscriber base experienced sporadic difficulties in making and receiving of calls this morning. Vodacom's 24/7 network management centre identified the problem at 5am and immediately dispatched technical expertise to rectify the situation.

Had to reboot my phone before i could get back on the network - so if you battleing try that off button.

Small percentage? I wonder.
Also, why was their web site down?

Sounds like a cover story to me - I would be a whole lot more forgiving if they were more upfront about this.
