Vodacom Push To Talk

yes - but it is to expensive for anyone to use. Seems like they priced it to make sure they don't loose on sms's.

The standards have not been settled yet, so you're probably right in that it's proprietary to vendors at the moment.

That will be a joke if you right!
But I doubt it, all PTT devices can communicate with eachother.

BUt heres the catch:PTT at this time will NOT work accross networks- -and depending on the platform APN used , the phones have to be compliant to the platform being used.

eg:Motorola Client/APN =requires motorola PTT client on nokia symbian s60 for example the 6680 , which does not have a dedicated PTT button on the side and one has to use the send button.

I agree and have always liked the OMA as all platforms/networks can work together but Nokia have a big problem releasing their phones and ignoring the salemans understanding of the service and yet that S40 can not be used for the PTT service unless one of the networks integrate the NOKIA client.

So we sits and waits !!!!!!!!

Ask anyone that has dealings with Nextel (iden service in US ) and most users go PTT for cost and messaging.
We are way behind in this market.

I saw that and I think it is premature due to the nature of the limited handsets availible and the audio is soft compared to a standard radio.

I have a 12Wrms audio speaker on my two-way in my vehicle and it is VERY loud .

Comparing this to the PTT -well it is like adding sugar to the sea.

Perhaps an avertising scheme.

I believe MTN has trialed /trialing but no-one seems to know anything.
