I want to connect to the Android Market on my wifes SE X10 mini. It prompts me to enter her googlel account details. I then get a message "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server." The internet works fine when using the browser but it doesn't seem to connect when setting the google account up.

I have tried the exact same process with my son's SE X10 mini pro and it works like a charm.

It seems as if you need to activate your google account to access the Android Market.

normal gmail account or google apps account?

son and wife both on same network? or one on voda and another on mtn?

ah... and you say she hasnt yet "activated" her gmail account yet? most likely that. remember that surfing the net is just just that .... surfing the net. whereas gmail, gtalk, market etc you will be logging onto google servers

She does have a google/gmail account. What is a google apps account?

google apps lets you use your own domain (eg harrybob.co.za) within gmail. its amazing. run my whole business thru google apps.

I set up my son's phone using my gmail account details. I tried using my details and my wife's but I cannot access the Android Market.

When I fill in the gmail details, the form cannot be submitted because there isn't a connection. The 3G arrows (In the status bar) isn't active like when I connect to the internet through the browser.

ah... the APN isnt setup yet.

you need to go into settings/wirelesscontrols/mobilenetworks/accesspointnames/ then push bottom left button (menu) and click new apn.

then setup new apn... name. vodacom or mtn , then under APN put the word internet. then menu button again and save.

then try again

Had the same kind of problems with my HTC Desire. After a hard reset, everything was working the way it should.

Had the same kind of problems with my HTC Desire. After a hard reset, everything was working the way it should.

Everything working fine now. I went to VodaCare to get it sorted. First updated the software, same problem. Then a hard reset and software reinstal.

Thanks for the help.l
