Hi,

Please help,

the Vodacom micro sim in my galaxy S3 has decided, all on its own, to stop working.
It now says sim not registered, after being registered and working perfectly for over 6 years.
I have turned the phone off, removed the sim and restarted the phone.
I have tried searching for a new network before trying to automatically detect a network.
I have even tried adding a new APN with being "Vodacom" and the APN being "Internet"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

George

Might want to check your bank statement...SIM swap fraud is all the rage these days.

...and both bank and cell company will tell you its somehow your fault.

+1 - Normally if your sim card says unregistered by rebooting/removing the sim card and inserting back resolves the issues.

OP YOU better check with Vodacom immediately if a sim swop hasn't been performed on your line or try inserting it in another phone. Possibly it has just given up on you.

Last time I got a SIM card issue I phoned the bank rather...would rather deal with a bank call center than a cell call center.

It could also be your phone. I had an issue similar to this a while back. I had to send my phone in to be repaired. Since then it has been working really well.

I had this issue yesterday morning from about 09:00. I called in about 16:00 and was told there is a problem on the network and it is being attended to. Didn't register again for the rest of the day. This morning after a reboot it registered again for about an hour, but now again nothing. Called in again but VC supposedly cannot see anything wrong now. Will try go to Vodaworld a little later today.

Just an update, went to Vodaworld. In short, they have no answers for me. First tech help told me I was not provisioned for 3G, which has nothing to do with my problem but ok. Guy theen proceeded to disable LTE and reboot my phone. Obviously nothing changed and I still received the same error. Was then sent to accounts who told me my phone should be booked in for repairs, even though when testing with another SIM my phone behaves normally. So I am in exactly the same position. Logged a call with networks but I'm not holding my breath.
