Vodacom Specials

HTC Touch Diamond 2 come 8th March (on Vodacom)

I was wondering if anyone knew the new price for the HTC Touch Diamond 2 on Talk 315s (per second) when the new deals come out on March 8 2010...that is the once off pay in and the monthly installment options...thanks in advance...

I picked up the retention list and booklet yesterday, there wan't anything mindblowing. Is there anything specific you're looking for?

Anything good on the iPhone 3GS 16gb? :)

Nothing about it in the booklet, retention list has pay-in of 3500 on Talk 500, progressively more expensive as your contract price decreases. IIRC there's a thing on the vodacom website about iphone contracts that have data and stuff bundled, that will likely be cheaper.

wats the htc hero going for now?

1000 on Talk 500, 1200 on Talk 130/Business, 1620 on Top Up 315S, 1275 on Top Up 315.

Sales dude told me the Xperia X10 will be available 'Around the beginning of April'. He didn't sound super sure and no word on pricing, but he said that we wont have to wait for the new deal list to come out, they'll release it as soon as it becomes available.

Thanks. Yeah, iPhone is the one handset that never seems to get any cheaper...

OMF, also not very impressed with the new "Specials". For some reason I'm very keen for the Nokia X6, but as in last months specials we yet again have a "coming soon" under the X6.

Can anyone please shed some light on this dark/grayish issue... or perhaps recommend another phone or even Service Provider. Don't really want to go the Yellow route though!

Kind Regards

I'd hazard a guess it will only be out in April, but I'm not sure. What exactly about the X6 do you like? The touch interface on Nokias still has a couple of issues, the hardware specs are pretty good but dont blow anything out of the water, except maybe the 32GB storage space. Ovi Maps and the 'comes with music' deal are probably the biggest reasons to buy the phone. If you're not specifically going to use it for the free (albeit very-DRM locked) music and GPS software, there are a couple of similar specced touchscreen phones. Have a look at the Hero or the Satio?

Hi alt146

Thx for the valuable input!! To be honest with you, the only reason why I'm interested in the phone might be that I'm a Nokia fan (or basically I've ONLY used Nokias before ----- is that a bad thing??). Maybe I'm just to scared to go out and try a new brand. Regarding the specific specs, nothing really attracts me that much,I do have a proper gps, I've got LOADS of music so prob won't use the "comes with music" to the extent that it should be used, I like the touchscreen effect! THOUGH!

I love multimedia, but main reason to get a new phone would be for business purposes and business app's, but my take on that is that any good Multimedia phone should run any Business App i want. I don't want to start an OS war here, but I've never used a smart phone.... is the Symbian OS decent enough??

Thanks for helping this Smart phone virgin!!

I would appreciate a copy of the retentions pricelist or maybe even just the Talk 240 deals. Thank you

Lol, I'm not an expert on phones, but I'm due for an upgrade soon myself so I've been doinig lots of reading. Normal Symbian S60 phones technically arent smartphones, but they can multitask and install apps, so they're as good as. If you're looking for a business type phone and want Nokia I've only heard good things about the E72. The Symbian touchscreen interface still needs work, it's inconsistent and a little clunky from the couple of times I've used an N97.

If you like multimedia a touch-screen is probably the way to go, mainly because of the extra screen real-estate. You could go with nokia and either wait for the X6 or get a 5800 which has slightly lower specs but is also a fair bit cheaper. You could also try android (HTC Magic or Hero), or if you can stomach the price an iPhone, although you'd have to read up on what business specific apps are avaialble. The Satio seems to be more of a multimedia orientated phone, as opposed to a multipurpose smartphone and the resistive touch screen is a turn-off for some people.

Personally I'm just going to hold out a little longer for the SE X10, or possibly even the HTC Bravo, since my phone still does what I need it to do and I really, really want a phone with a Snapdragon processor and tons of RAM so I know whatever android brings out in the future will still be able to work for the next two years. That's just me though, and the X6 will be around the same time as the X10 propably if you're going to wait. Dont just listen to me though, I would suggest reading up on places like GSMarena as well as the various other posts in this forum.

Sorry I only have a hardcopy, it's a bit too much to type out everything. If you want a specific price I can check that, else pop into a vodashop or check if autopage has gotten the new prices yet.

My MTN contract is due for upgrade but I'm thinking of switching to Vodacom. From what I've read on these forums, Vodacom aren't fantastic either when it comes to service, especially in-warranty repairs. So, if I can't get a better deal at Vodacom, I might just stick to MTN.

I know what phones I'll be looking to get and it will be on the Anytime 350 contract. Here's the pricing, and it would be highly appreciated if you could give the tariffs for these phones on the Vodacom Talk 130 contract.

Anytime 350
HTC Hero R399
Nokia E72 R369
Nokia X6 32GB R409
Nokia x6 16Gb R339
SE Satio R419

Thanking you in advance.

I got a price list from vodacom today...

Do u mean Talk 350? or topup 315s?

Topup 315s- Pay in: R1049 (Monthly subscription R324.50)
Talk 350- Pay in R929 (Not sure abt this one, you can check on the vodacom site~)

The talk 130 goes for a monthly subscription of R315 (130 Free Min)

HTC Hero- Once off Pay in R1199 (R1199/24months, +-R50/month) R50+R315=R365
Nokia E72- Once off pay in of R799 (R799/24months, +-R34/moth) R34+R315=R349
Nokia X6- Not Available yet....
SA Satio- Once off pay in R899 (R899/24months, +-R38/month) R38+ R315=R353

Haha, after calculating it, I'm surprised myself, I've splited the once off cost into 24months and all the deals are actually cheaper...
Hope it helps...
