Interesting that throughout the greater part of the North West today, numerous clients complained that they could connect with 3G but there was no data coming through. Analyses in the field also showed that tower equipment signal sometimes dropped to zero, fluctuating between 101dBm and 113dBm(No signal) in some areas. How is it that no report is available anywhere or am i looking in the wrong place. Is Vodacom turning a blind eye?

...how were you taking these readings?

calls are stil possible on -120dBm as long as the channel quality is not bad.

If there is 3G but "no data coming through" it is more likely a core problem than a radio problem. In that case it would effect alot more users. So I doubt there is an actual issue other than maybe users being too far from towers.

1. Frequency analyzer
2. 3G Modem with analyses software using Yagi antenna
3. Android analyzer using Yagi antenna

Most of my clients complained. That is a lot of users affected. Some users could not connect at all and they usually have between 89-91dBm signal.

Vodacom is indeed turning a blind eye. If you want to get them to do something about it, you have to PM the Vodacom rep, and he will report the problem for you, and escalate it, otherwise they will probably ignore it as well.

How long before Vodacom's network collapses completely?
