"Roaming" is not the correct way of describing their relationship with MTN. Mobile operators who allow other network operator customers to use their infrastructure when the customers home operator does not have an infrastructure in place in that specific area to directly serve its customers is said to allow roaming. That roaming is based on a contractual agreement between the two operators.

What I deduce from what you have said is that FNB is a reseller of MTN services based on a contractual agreement between it and MTN. Subtle but there is a difference. In effect, you are moving from VC to MTN from a technical point of view.

FNB Connect is a VMNO. Only Cell C does VMNOs. Cell C now roams on MTN.

I stand corrected. FNB actually uses Cell C as its network provider and Cell C has a roaming agreement in place with MTN. I never checked it out myself. I simply used the information provided to illustrate the difference between Roaming and a Reseller. Thanks for the information.

So on TV news this morning (SABC 2), there was a discussion about the renaming of Cape Town Airport.
While the debate has nothing to do with this thread there was one statement that has everything to do with this thread and articles on myBB. It goes like this:
The EFF motion was defeated in Parliament.
An incoming public comment stated that The EFF should have tried after the elections not before. This is a political ploy by the EFF to gain political points before the elections. another public comment implied that the ANC really did not like Winnie.

The response by one of the presenters goes like this (word-for-word):
"Politics 101. Perceptions are all-powerful. And Politics is about power. The reality is of secondary importance." The Headline is what captures attention. The nitty gritty does not matter because people don't read it."

Now this thread based on the Article Headline is a classic example as well. I wonder how many even bothered to read the rest of the article before they commented on this thread?

And that headline attracted all sorts of silly, irrelevant and even factually incorrect comments, based on the perceptions of those commenting!

That is I suppose what sensationalist Journalism is all about. I was under the impression that myBB is about factual reporting? Is my impression wrong?

Depends what you mean by session. I speak under correction on the exact number, but records are updated every few KBs, 5 or 10, I think.

No problem with that, sounds similar to the way that Vodacom's prepaid and TopUp data usage stats were implemented.

Yup, should be independent of bearer.

Could not imagine that it would be any other way. It is a business system matter. If you can measure data usage you can measure it. How could that ever be technology dependent?

Well, lets hope so, because historically when contract people had say R500 pm limit and 1GB pm data bundle on their contract, and suddenly got R14 000 OOB data bills, Vodacom was always like "well, we only bill you at the end of the data session. You used 8GB in your 3 hour data session, as soon as that session ended we applied your R500 limit when we saw you were over it".

All of those issues are BSS related. Nothing to do with the network infrastructure (GSM, 3G, 4G, LTA, etc).
If that situation arose then it was a failure of the BSS system and not the "bearer technology" in use.

Well well! The age of miracles is still with us! VC has finally, after today's update of the "my VC" app, implemented FIFO!
Not that the update went smoothly. A complete re-install was the only way to get it to work! The normal update failed.

No wonder it rained this afternoon!

Don't be so joyous yet, have you confirmed if it's FIFO by expiry or by purchase date? The way I know these thieves they'll deplete your 30 day bundle you bought yesterday before the 7 day bundle you bought today.

True. I don't buy bundles. When the monthly contract bundle is up for the month, that is it. So for me so long as the carryover of the previous month ticks down first, they have changed to FIFO for me.
They next fight will be to understand the logic of specials and bundles bought.
Of course we have found out, recently, there is the logicl of rational people, science, mathematics and fanatics. So I suppose there is also the logic of Marketeers and Chinese bookkeepers to contend with.
