Vodacom3G 2100mhz

Hi V3g, a Question to ask are Vodacom using a 1800mhz as apposed to 2100mhz UMTS band for 3g/HSDPA i know that we don’t have the license for use of this band it's just that for a few months now it's been bothering me the whole 64k sim card improving the use of 3g phones on the network, and know MTN 128k Sim cards that will not pick up signal in our Voda 3g phones and that every nokia phone has the 2100mhz as a separate UMTS band on the box this all seems very confusing to me can you assist. Would it not maybe help if we did use this band just for Data as apposed to using 1800 for voice and Data e.g.

I really don't understand your question / questions / statement / statements.

Maybe using some punctuation might help?

The frequencies assigned to 2G / 3G are fixed and you cannot use them interchangeably.

Again, I don't quite understand the questions around the SIMs but in general, we found that a 64K SIM helped in certain devices with 2G/3G handover. Otherwise a 32K SIM will work just fine on 3G.

Can't comment on the MTN 128K SIM, but we've seen before that vendors had to spin special firmware to accommodate MTN SIMs (see relevant thread on MTN SIM in Vodacom E220), so this might be a similar situation.
