Hi,

I called the call Vodacom centre today as we're unable to send emails from our phones using our Vodamail email accounts.

When we are at home using our WiFi (ADSL) we cannot send emails but when we are away from home on Edge or 3G then the emails send.

Now the call centre said I should change my SMTP setting every time I arrive home so that I can send my emails from home.

HOW YOU EVER HEARD SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS??? Imagine Google or Hotmail or Yahoo telling their customers that?

Does anyone have a solution for this? Secured SMTP settings or different setting?

Thx

Hi

Are you using authentication(user and pass) in your vodamail smtp settings ?

Walk through for 2010 outlook....

Open Outlook
Select File in menus
Select account settings
Select settings "box"
Select the email account you wish to change
Click on change

Another "box" has opened.
Look towards the bottom right, there is a "more settings" tab.
Click on that tab.

A new "box" appears.
Click on the "outgoing server" tab

Then make sure the settings are as in the attached image.

Save to accept. This should solve your problem.

It seems the Vodacom call centre staff are not aware of this
Additionally it seems the user-name must be entered is a specific manner for it to work - It's the cellphone number with the country code 27 in front (no + is needed)

Seems to be working fine now - Thanks Vodacomdata and ChilliGirl
