Hi

Can anyone tell me if they have managed to get data access when using an MTN sim in a Vodafone Globetrotter card?

I've got a Globetrotter HSDPA data card and mine works hundreds

Excellent, did you have to unlock the card? I've got a Globetrotter plugged into the laptop next to me, trying to get it to connect...

a) Are you using the Vodafone Dash, if not, what software?
b) How long do MTN sims normally take to become "active"?
c) I just need it to connect for now, do I need to top it up first?

Well if you dial 555 it gives you a intro and then it's active and yeah you would have to top up some $$ otherwise she's not going to work

Ok so I can get the sim to register etc and I have some $ on the card. What are you using to connect, the same Vodafone Dash? When connecting I get a 619 error message.
I'm assuming it's got something to do with the APN ?

Shouldn't be the APN because AFAIK both MTN and Voda use the internet APN.
 
Do you guys know if the sim has to be provisioned for data services?
Should I be using software other than the Vodafone dash?

Well with MTN the SIM's are preloaded with Basic Fax and data so you shouldn't have a problem I'm not sure with the VC SIM's

I'm talking specifically about the MTN sims, still not too sure if I should download other software or not? Basically when trying to connect I get an Error 619 message, I'm trying to establish if it's the Vodafone software or something else. Is anyone else using a MTN sim with the Vodafone software?

Not having any problems with the VC ones, but I need to get an MTN one up and running for testing next week. Any ideas ?
