Vodafone MC950D drivers for Windows 7

That's great and it certainly helps to be a member on this forum.
But what of all the other data users out there who are not?
Windows 7 has been out officially since October 2009, and Vodacom still have no reference to it on their Downloads site.
That seems to tell me a story that Vodacom does not care much for its data users.

I would not say it is because Vodacom does not care, I just think that the newer modems are supported by default and it will take a bit of time for Win7 gets a hold in the market (heavens forbid ). I think most poeple will be getting Win7 as they buy new PC's/Laptops, as most general users dont care all that much what OS they are running.

But it is perhaps a good idea for Vodacom to update the website with a Win7 FAQ and guide should people out there run into trouble.

Have you guys tried the latest VMC (full version) on win 7 with this modem or is it a firmware issue? Just asking as I dont know. Am using E220 and E156G modem with Ubuntu so dont have practicle experience with this problem.

3.18.02 is the latest firmware

9.4.4 will be released soon with more bug fixes and support for the new K- series

I beg to differ re the conversion to Windows 7, especially users of Vista.
I have purchased a new Dell XPS 1654 which came with Windows 7 Home Premium, but I immediately upgraded to Professional for the VM feature which allows me to run some of my older XP software like Nikon Capture 1.
When I get back from holiday I will be switching my other Laptop to Win 7 as well, because I have found it to be a slick O/S.
Businesses will wait before conversion, but the rate that laptops are increasing in popularity with individuals will obviously give Windows 7 a big boost.
The point that I was trying to make is that Vodacom should be pro-active and not re-active to the needs of their customers. An updated download site should not be that difficult to correct.
Windows 7 is a major change and needs to be visually supported by all who run their software on this platform.

+1 That's what the beta versions are for, 3rd party vendors shouldn't be waiting until the new OS is mainstream before trying to their products work.

Regardless of who does the testing, someone surely needs to update the site? If 9.4. is known to work with Windows 7 and the MC950D then get the site updated, how hard can it be?

At present the only mention of Windows 7 on the Vodacom downloads page is the hotfix for Huawei devices. The MC950D is not even listed anywhere. VCD any more details on what that fix is supposed to do? There are no details about what problem the fix addresses in the documentation so I'm not inclined to load it. You also have a sticky post for Windows 7 support, might be time to update it while you wait for the vodacom site to catch up.

After some googling a week or 2 back, i read that the Hotfix deals with some compatibility issues between the Huawei Devices and Windows 7... though I've never had any compatibility issues with Huawei Devices and Windows 7.
