Okay

so I got the new modem on saturday... but it seems to be more sensitive than its older brother cause it keeps dropping my connection. I am unable to get DSL so I use HSDPA for my online gaming. But it keeps dropping my connection... which is very frustrating. Older modem didn't do this... is there a setting I can change or what is up. Please help...

Thx

Try the 3G-Only profile and maybe invest in an external antenna.

Thanks man... will do... didn't know that you got external antenna's but I will definitely look into it. How much will it help my signal though?

Thx

PS: I switched to the 3G only option and it seemed to have helped a bit, but still keen on the external antenna...

If you have a flaky signal, an external antenna will make a huge difference. If you rely on 3G for your primary connection, it's for sure worth it.

Check with Poynting.

Well, in all honesty... it is better than the older 3.6 modem... but also, because it is more sensitive it seems... I am not really able to fully tell you yet. That and vodacom are still getting there network ready for the 7.2 I think.

I have a few questions...

1) I signed up on saturday with the understanding that I don't have to subscribe to the HSDPA 3.6 service as it comes standard with the contract... and yet, when I log into vodacom.co.za... it shows that that service isn't running. I am calling the service centre tonight to check but... is anyone able to confirm what I was initially told?

2) vodacom3g, where can I get an external antenna... yes, my signal is VERY bad... because I seem to be on the verge of the 3G/HSDPA footprint. I have asked if someone can come out to test and maybe setup a booster in our estate but I don't know how that is going. There are over 2000 people in the estate, all of which use 3G I think due to the lack of DSL... so it would be a welcome upgrade. I really battle with normal cellphone reception as well. I am now very keen on this external antenna and would like to maybe get one today if possible... where can I get one please...

1) The 3.6 with UPA service is an additional VAS fee of R49/month.

2) You can get the antennas from Poynting. I've passed the estate info on. Will check.
