Does anyone know if it is possible to set up Vodamail as IMAP and not POP?

From what I could find by googling, it seems Vodamail does not support full IMAP functionality. Regardless, does anyone perhaps have IMAP settings for it?

As far as I know they only support IMAP4 and not the full version.

Thanks warwickw, the page that loads when clicking on your link, have multiple purple links, meaning I have already visited them, I did google quite a lot before asking the question here, if you can point out ONE link in those search results which actually gives you IMAP4 settings and NOT the regular POP settings, I will buy you a beer right now!!

Waiting for your reply...

You are over engineering it, sounds odd but use pop3.vodamail.co.za but just set the protocol to imap

telnet pop3.vodamail.co.za 143
Trying 196.11.146.150...
Connected to pop3.vodamail.co.za.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2005 Double Precision, Inc. See COPYING for distribution information.

I appreciate that you are trying to help...unfortunately I can't get it to work, no matter what I do. I should have also mentioned, I'm trying to do this on my iPhone. Apologies for not mentioning it earlier, don't know if it makes a difference to the advice that you might be able to provide.

I thought I could try other mail apps like Outlook or Spark, instead of the default mail app, but no luck with them either. They don't support POP accounts at all. That is why I was wondering if there is a proper set of IMAP settings, or at least IMAP4 settings that would be recognized by these apps as IMAP settings.

Time to ditch Vodamail, it seems...

Even so, what would the settings for IMAP4 be? Server names, user names, ports, etc?
If you called 082155 in the first instance, Vodacom Data support would have given the required IMAP4 settings.
These forums are not the Alpha and Omega of info.
Simply that Sir.

Good luck with that.

Most call centre agents would not have a clue what the heck you are talking about.

I hear you buddy, but not so easy as one would expect. I've phoned Vodacom hundreds of times in the last 24 months, for a wide variety of issues, from incorrect billing issues to upgrade problems and more. And every time I dealt with them, it was a horrible experience. Your call gets cut off when it is finally number one in the queue, then you phone again, then you have to verify your personal details once again, then you have to explain your problem over and over and over again...

Then the consultant can't help you, and have to put you through to a different apartment, where you have to verify your personal details AGAIN, then explain your story again...then they "log" the problem but don't give you a reference number, you ask them if they shouldn't...they say no, not necessary, you wait a few days and phone again, nobody knows about your issue, and the whole process start from scratch...

Should I continue? Maybe the call to the Data Support department would have worked out fine, but one never knows...given my recent dealings with them as described above should be enough to forgive me for asking the question here.

Also, it is not always possible to sit at work and make lengthy personal calls, much more convenient to quickly post a question on the forums - isn't it there to help each other out?

Good luck with that.

Exactly!!

That time was ten years ago, already.

In any case, don't know why I stuck it out with Vodamail for so long, blonde moment on my part, but I've luckily seen the light, and switched over to an iCloud email address. Works perfectly on my Apple devices, where most of my email activity is taking place any way.

With SMS notifications as a useful security feature, which email client for Android works the best for users and has anyone the settings for outgoing email?
