The vodashop in Centurion Mall is clueless about the bolton databundles for prepaid. Went there yesterday to try and buy a E220 modem cash and spent half an hour arguing with the salesperson who insisted that you cant use the modem on prepaid.
Vodacom3g : does Vodacom communicate all changes and options to the dealers/vendors whatever ? or is this a case NAFIness on the salesperson side who wants the commision on contracts ?

i had the same problem in pe. I was told that their motorola v360 does not support edge. This was from sales to the techies. In thier own mag it says it does.
They can only sell phones.

You are likely to cause a salesperson brain-meltdown if you mention Bolt-on or Ad-Hoc and pre-paid data bundle(s) in the same sentence: both Bolt-On and Ad-Hoc data bundles are the 2 different types of contract data bundles [available in numerous sizes], whereas there is currently only one type of pre-paid data bundle & currently Vodacom's PPDB is available in 3 different data sizes.

Obviously any Data Enabled Pre-Paid Vodacom SIM card can be used in an E220, and the salesperson should have known at least that - even if they did not know about the release of PPDBs.

From similar threads in this forum, and what v3g has previously posted, it is clear that Vodacom does send information out to all the retail outlets - electronically, unfortunately there will always be some sales people that completely ignore information at their fingertips and spout a bunch of uninformed crap, and then to make matters worse argue with customers & tell the customer that he|she is wrong...

IMO it is a general lackadaisical South African attitude towards consumers and it certainly is not limited to Vodashops, what the salesperson should have done, is to have double-checked first by asking someone else or checking for any bulletins from Vodacom, or admitted that they did not know if it was possible...

Yes, all the info does go out to the shops. It's an ongoing battle to get the shops up to speed as we do not control them directly. They are all independently owned and managed.

There is a program being deployed that puts data specialists in every shop and this is helping a lot. Also there are Data-only Vodashops going up, at least in the Cape I've seen two.

I think ic hit the nail on the head (should be the sales person :)). By mentioning "prepaid bolt-on" you short-circuited a few neurons and from there it probably went downhill....

:D
and then the stupid braincell takes over and they tell you there is no prepaid data. They know best.

Yes, and then they argue with you and look at each other in a knowing way, as if you are the un-enlightened one.

Yes, listen I have a solution.
What if they made all the shop employees read the " Vodacom Broadband" section here every morning.
That way they can keep up.

Great idea! Why don't you email them all the link? Email addresses available on the vodacom4me website...

And it is an "allowed" site on the Vodashop profile (controlled by vodacom to avoid abuse) :) :) :)

Are we allowed to quote a banned person(riekus)
Yes, you certainly are allowed to quote Rikus.
If he is banned, then why is he still here?

Anyway, he had a good idea... that deserves a quote in my book:cool:
It is temporary & due to something that went down in another forum.

I agree it is a good idea, credit to Rikus :).

With all due respect I think it's high time that changed. Maybe then customers will get the service they deserve and will stop them from considering other SP's

Good to see you're back in action doing a great job ic
