Hi!

If I can get some help or solutions to my problem I will be over the moon!

I have a FNB connect voip service with 087 number. It worked fine on the WISPSA connection at my old house, but now at my new place it does not work:

The following changed:
I now use Telkom ADSL line with MWeb 4Mbs Uncapped data.
Modem/Router: TotoLink ND300 ( not NT300 )

Since my Grandstream voip phone did not register on the FNB SIP server I tried the following:
I created a wifi hotspot with my smart phone (CellC) and connected my Laptop. Then I used Zoipher (free voip pc program) to test the FNB account login.
On the CellC hotspot the registration on the SIP server took seconds.
I also noted that Port 80 was visible from canyouseeme.org (same as on the WISPSA connection)

Back on Adsl I noticed that Port 80 times out from canyouseeme.org

Now, is Port 80 the problem why my Voip phone can not register?
And is the port blocked by Telkom or Mweb?
(I had long conversations with both and can now hum the call centre jingle hahaha)

Hope there is an answer for this!
Thanks in advance!

If memory serves correctly the SIP port is 5060. Maybe check if your router is blocking port 5060. Also make sure that in your NAT settings in the router, that it is not NAT'ing port 5060

Yeah it is 5060 for SIP. Rather get Mweb voip which is per second billing and no monthly fee.

Also test Zoipher on your ADSL.

Thanks P00HB33R!

I have no NAT on port 5060 on the router. But the port check times out on canyouseeme.
Do I need to add a rule to allow port 5060 in my router?

Here is some description of a function on the router:
ACL Setup
You can specify which services are accessable form LAN or WAN side.
Entries in this ACL table are used to permit certain types of data packets from your local network or Internet network to the Gateway.
Using of such access control can be helpful in securing or restricting the Gateway managment.

Then I can ad port 5060 just for the VOIP phone IP?

Thank you Wasabee!

I will try the Mweb VOIP because I actually have the login information for a VOIP account with them but then I will get a new number?

Zoipher did not register on the SIP server via the ADSL connection.

Yes Mweb will provide you a new number. It seems it has something to do with your ISP.ADSL modem router then if Zoipher didn't register. Try Mweb and see if that works, could help fix the FNB connect issue you are having.

So either way you should test Mweb to find the fault and to see if it "just works" or is even cheap than FNB connect, but you won't get ebucjs then!

What is the SIP server you are using for FNB? Maybe try and use the IP address instead of the server URL.

Good idea

I have tried setting the Mweb Talk on Zoipher, but I think I dont have all the needed settings....
Will have a go at it again.

seems your cell c phone hotspot has no firewall and is open to the internet. (or has a web service running allowing connections to the phone or pc) what happens if you put the cell c IP in a browser when the hotspot is active? https://www.whatismyip.com/

the adsl router blocks incoming connection requests and allows all outbound, default home firewall settings. that's why no port 80 on adsl. it stops at your router, as it should.

I'm running a triple nat setup with 2 firewalls and an untangle server(was bored). have not needed to forward any ports or modify any firewall settings. the voip just works. using x-lite on windows 10.

The fnbconnect voip handset guide also does not say to modify any firewall/router settings.

https://www.fnbconnect.co.za/pdf/voip_handset_guide.pdf

I don't even see port 5060(or anything els) open on that voip server ulr or ip, strange that it works on cell c. if I scan my voip host IP I can see the voip port open.

why are you bothered about port 80 btw? its for web page browsing. who's going to browse a website hosted on your pc?

So I got Mweb Talk up and running on Zoipher with no hassle at all!! It just works!!
Server is setup as sip.mweb.net:5060

FNB Connect still no connection hahaha!

So at the moment MWeb Talk is working fine in Zoipher,
but not on my Grandstream DP715 Voip Phone - will have to go over the phone settings again, but not sure what to look for :-)

try a different NAT Traversal setting on the DP715. This is usually set automatically on softphones..

its under "Profile 1"
