sorry guys
i am a tech noob
i make a lot of overseas landline calls to landline and to a lesser extent to cellphones.
can anyone recommend an easy to use and cost effective voip solution please?
can one get a dedicated voip handset?

I have recently discovered voip resellers that resell voip services from betamax VOIP.

There is a very big list of VOIP providers. Some of them that offer super low cost to SA numbers are

You can scan through the list and click the rates. Most of them offer free landline calls to international destinations but higher local calls so have a look through the list and see which works best for you cost wise since they are all the same reseller but different rates.

For your setup it might be a better option to get an Analogue Phone adapter.

It allows you to use any normal telephone to make your calls as the adapter is like a router that you enter the voip settings in.

Using your cellphone on wifi would also work very good and they have a app in the app store for it too.

Hi take a look at www.freshphone.co.za, it was built to solve your problem right here in SA.

Only thing I don't like is that they charge a big amount to port your number.. If the port fails then they assist you pay again.

Can you rather do a Hangout or Skype call instead of paying a company a monthly fee?

You do not pay twice to port the same number, even if it fails the first or second time, if you wish to port a different number you will pay once off again.

It costs mobile per minute rate that is assigned to your Telkom Mobile Contract.
Form Telkom Landline I believe it is the same as any landline call which was 57c incl vat per minute the last time I checked. I also understand that Telkom charge a minimum fee on each call. You will have to check for yourself to be sure.

I will contact you guys to port my number once my fibre is installed and telkom line is cancelled.

Do not cancel your Telkom line until you have ported your number successfully. If you do, your number will be lost.

Can't get Freshphone to work. Not on phone, not on Zoiper on cell and not on Zoiper on PC. Shows account is active but can't receive incoming calls, the thing I test first as I had many problems with incoming calls in the past. Will stick with MWeb Talk for now.
