Did any of you have an option of a VoIP handset when fibre was installed?

I'd love to reach out to the companies that offer to see if perhaps I could assist now that I distribute.

Previously, handsets that we had were too expensive for consumer

I mean something like the Gigaset A415 (http://www.gigaset.com/hq_en/gigaset-a415/) for just over R1,000.00

I had a company approach me a few months back that was doing fibre - and on every application was a tickbox for router needed / VoIP needed. Our handsets then were R2,000+ .... so it was a no go. But is there any other provider offering something similar ?

Vox did something with SME (http://www.itweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=142277)

I think it would be a decent value add ?

Not sure what you are asking here. Are you asking which other company sells VOIP with fibre installs?

Yup.

I've just got a job selling these and thought it could be a great value add.

'Sir, what package do you need? How about a router? And handset? Great!'

I think most offer it, it just isn't listed on the website. For instance RSAWeb listed their voip option on the fibre application. But yea the handsets are crazy expensive. Considering that you can get a android phone to handle SIP accounts now. The common wireless model I've seen with ISPs who've sold them is a yealink at around 1.6k.

We used to just give the Yealink T21s away for free when clients asked for a voip service.

That was until one enterprising chap bought a Siemens cordless online, copied his account details over to the new phone, sold "our" phone on Gumtree and the new user ran up a substantial bill in the customer's name.

I kid you not.
