Hi

Just looking for advice regarding action cameras.
Saw the "Volkano" brand but i cant seem to find the manufacturers website or much about the product. Volkano Force Model. Anyone have experience with this brand?

Or, can recommend other brands in similar price range. I cannot justify the price of Go-Pro's for the amount of time I am going to use the camera. I just need it to be waterproof and decent still photos.

I am also considering buying this and any feedback would be valuable.

Need an action camera, primarily to use for underwater/snorkeling and can't justify the go Pro prices for what is an occasional need.

I am considering the sjcam as well, but still undecided.

Would like true 4k (cost permitting), image stabilisation, waterproof (is volkano waterproof without the case?), decent battery life, decent sound.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Hi there. Will let you know. Apparently it will be delivered tomorrow. Impressed with the delivery considering the black Friday deals.

It is 4k video recording with a 16mp sensor.
I havnt read anything about image stabilisation. I also don't think it's waterproof without the case. But for the price, i think it's well worth it for my needs considering I won't be using it every weekend, just occasional use. My biggest push to buy was I'm going on holiday in December which may include snorkelling so I took the plunge.

Will update once I receive it and play around.
 
Camera has arrived but I haven't played with it too much. Overall I can say the following:
For the price, you not going to get much better. It comes with handlebar mount, helmet mount and suction mount. Also has a wrist remote. The waterproofing relies on the case, the camera is not waterproof alone. It is based on Android software and has a video recording mode which allows snapshots while recording, slow motion and camera mode. Also has settings to adjust exposure and white balance but not ISO. I dunked the case alone in water to test and it seems fine. The mountings are go pro compatible.

Camera quality didn't appeal to me that much and you also have to keep it realy steady. I didn't notice a focus option or half press to focus, which makes it a bit difficult to get really sharp still photos. I also think the waterproof case blurs out the image just slightly. Still need to take images without the case on to tesr. Video looks good and can't complain there. Sound recording is slightly distorted with the case on. But I was impressed with the video.
I would like to compare to a go pro but I don't know anyone who has one. I would like to compare on a PC to really see the detail of images and videos.

All I can say, for me and the amount i will be using it, i think it serves it's purpose, considering it's price. I am going overseas and will try it while snorkelling hopefully. I am happy with it .
 
Update, I will try my best to write a review soon about the camera, with sample pictures etc.
I should have done this a long time ago.
 
I just got the Extreme series 4k UHD Volkano camera. The waterproof housing looks great (30m waterproof - still to test this), but the video quality itself is not great for "4K". Mobile phone vieo is better. So, apparently ok for underwater, non professional use. Otherwise is comes with a few adapters and mounts, except a suction cup. The app they mention which can connect to its Wifi is not great but you can start and stop a recording and see the camera video via WiFi on the mobile app. I got it online via Sportsmans Warehouse for R999.

GoPro quality is far superior.
