Voting on 3 August - What problems did you experience?

One long line into the voting station; inside it was separated into 3 lines according to surname. The I-M and N-Z lines had hardly anyone at them because everyone was being forced to wait in the A-H line. But a hour into us waiting in the queue, some of the party agents took initiative and started sorting things out for the IEC officials. Took 1.5 hours to vote but once the lines were rectified things seemed to be moving much faster for people behind us.

My cuticles and skin look terrible. Can't thumb photo.

Old people jumping the queue! :p

20 minutes in and out for me in Cape Town, no issues at all.

None at all, 22 minutes from when I left home to when I parked the car in the garage again.

Single queue outside with space for people older than 65, the disabled or those who are pregnant or had young children to walk by.

Single scanner at the door that was used for everyone after which it got split into 3 separate queues by surname.

My name was crossed off (ruled line) before I got to the check-in table inside the voting station.

The IEC official said he recognised me waiting next in line at the door and crossed off my name before I got there. He's the night-time manager at the local Steers. Hmm.

Rest of the voting is went fine.

Ah well.

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. No queue at all, although the station was well-staffed and had a heavy police presence.

The ink they used is pathetic. You can just rub it off.

Boskop: Stood in queue for about 2.5 hours.

Too many people jumping the queue. Every parent with a child (or so it felt) headed to the front - and there were many! :( All the older folk headed to the front too. Too many of were using some feeble and lame excuses to avoiding standing. I did have respect for one or two folk who were clearly not able to stand the whole time, who took a small fold up chair to bide their time.

There was not a single official who was controlling or vetting this procession. If I had to estimate the number who jumped the queue, I'd say it was easily 150+. Quite a few were quite capable of queuing.

While we were right at the front, one SOB blatantly walked in pretending to look for someone (his intent was blatantly obvious!). When he got called out by one of the blokes in queue, he protested his innocence. Still not a single IEC official responding or attempting to diffuse the situation.

If there had been any real trouble, this station could easily have descended into disaster.

Oh yeah. My missus' physical address was listed in their register. Mine not. :erm:

Queued less than an hour. My name was marked down on the list, but unlike all other elections no scanner was used this time.

In my instance, the IEC official was about to draw a line through another's name, which was about 3 above mine. We quickly stopped her. Just shows how inept a few of them are... or is this deliberate intent.

No issues, officials were very friendly and queue was quite short are around 11am, went quickly too.

My wife and I finished voting in less than 5 minutes here in Sasolburg. Arrived at about 09:00, went straight into the hall, had our smart IDs scanned, got our three ballot papers without any queue and voted, left a few minutes later.

Milnerton no problems at all.

BUT Sick of DA SMS Spam: @ Helen Zille: Helen Suzman would not have countenanced such tacky conduct.

Voted at the Rivonia recreation club in Achter Road.
Went it around 15h30.
Outside in parking lot was ANC (2 people) and DA (5 people) camps.
In the center , there are three stations. It went very smoothly. Took about 10 minutes from scanning ID to exiting.
