Voting on 3 August - What problems did you experience?

They scan your ID while in the queue and give you a number. They use that number to look up nyour name on a manifest to cross it off when they hand you the ballots. At that point they also stamp your ID book.

I'm glad I didn't need any stamp, I've got an ID card. They just scanned it at the door and gave me a slip.

in and out in 10 mins
scanned died but she got it back up in record time :)

Queue was about 50 people long. Took about 2 hours. IEC staff had the typical lazy government attitude about them.

Interesting stuff.

Who supervises this!?

How do they prevent tampering overnight

Yeah, like I said, none of that happened with us. No stamp, no scanner in sight, no scanning, obviously, no number from non existent scanning.

Parties have agents present to observe
I speak under correction but the parties are not allowed to know where the counting takes places and thats the reason why the EFF is upset and hired guards to follow the trucks transporting the ballots.

Its only SAPS and IEC that knows where it is, or so understand.

I'm sure parties are part of the counting process. And iirc, the counting happens at the voting station, and the parties not those results before transmission to IEC

Rubbish.

At 7pm the gates are locked and only the voters inside the voting station may still vote. Once they are done the IEC Presiding Officer locks the doors to the venue. The last ballot boxes are then sealed.

The IEC counting officials then remain behind in the hall, together with 2 Party Agents from each political party contesting that ward and one or teo SAPS officers. The ward candidates are allowed to be present but...

At that stage NOBODY is allowed in of out of the voting station as it has then become a counting venue.

The part agents observe the entire process but may not interfere or touch anything.

At the end of the process the party agents have to sign the result sheets or make their objections.

It was the special votes the EFF was concerned about.
