Vox Hack

Wow you guys. I got Vox last week - I have a Siemens Gigaset 762sx router which I am rather fond of however Vox insisted that I use their all in one brick into which the ugly little handset fits. I can't even get the voicemail set up. It's engaged all the time. And it rings, a half ring and people are telling me that my number is 'unknown' but only sometimes.....have logged a call with Vox but if there is some way of getting my trusty Siemens to work in conjunction with this vox one, I'd love to know how.

return the brick and cancel the account. Click the following link and order a SIP account.

It saddens me that people fail at simple things, such as reading the information provided for in front of them... considering this has already been discussed in this thread...

Has anyone managed to successfully setup their VOX SIP number to work on a SIP enabled cellphone?

I have a Nokia E71 which is SIP capable and I want to use it as my VOX handset, which will make "roaming" between Wifi / ADSL lines (like @ the office, home, clients, etc) much easier.

I followed the steps outlined here, http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile/feature-voip-with-nokia-e71-how-to-2008095/ but my phone keep saying "Registration Failed".

1. Do you have the stand alone sip account?

2. Is your E71 (same as my phone) set up to use your 3G as internet for the SIP account? Remember, each app on the phone can be configured independantly to use the different settings. I have several settings on my phone. Home Wifi, Work Wifi, Congo Hotel Wifi, 2x Swazi Hotel Wifis, China Hytera Wifi, then 8.ta 3G, Congo Airtel 3G, Swazi MTN 3G and then China Mobile 3G.

God I love that phone...

What codec is the E71 using ? if vox only accepts g729, then registration would fail also in most sip clients you need to put the sip registrar in the proxy space too for it to work, similar to the GigasetA580IP.
