Vox pure dsl

But then the telkom technician came out and still did the changeover for me. Afterwards I emailed vox and informed them that the installation was done and the line was tested and working. They sent me my login details that same day and I was up and running. So I had no down time at all. Just have to pay for an extra month of my old service because of the 30 day cancellation notice.
I've had a very different experience. Ordered 12th June. Technician came 15th July. I notified Vox immediately and I've chatted to them almost every day since then and I still don't have login details.

I applied for my DSL service more than a month ago and haven't heard anything from Vox. When I went to look at the website my order has just disappeared! I made another order and will wait to see what happens. Actually I think I'm just going to go with Afrihost rather.

Guys. Just cancel. Pay the extra and go with Afrihost.

Vox don't have a clue what they are doing with this Pure DSL. Telkom came over a week ago to install and test. I've contacted Vox every day since then and I haven't progressed at all. Every support person just says they will escalate or expedite my request. But I don't ever get any feedback. They just keep emailing this non existent DSL team.

Off-topic:

Vox's support. Is. The. WORST.
(Ok, ok, 2nd worst.)
( telkom is no.1, but Vox is a very close second.)

So surprisingly after posting my account has been activated. Now the issue I have is that it is modulating with ADSL and Vox support say that they can't switch me to VDSL modulations. They said there are cost implications and the Pure DSL product is locked to ADSL. Insane....

I previously had:

- Internet line rental and phone service from Telkom.
- Fat Pipe data account from Vox.

All I wanted to do was to get rid of the Telkom voice service. I followed the Telkom cancellation process to the letter according to Vox instructions, whereafter I notified Vox to convert my ADSL service to the new pure ADSL service.

Guess what:
Vox have now effectively signed me up for two Internet services on the same line, and have not cancelled the Fat Pipe service. They have now run a debit order for both services for the amount of R786.25.

I was without ADSL Internet for 10 days, and expected to pay something like R(20/30 x 375) = R250. The Vox Accounts Department refuses to budge, and I have now cancelled both Vox services, and will sign up with Telkom on 1 September for the R199 (for 6 months) 4 Mb/s service.

I ordered on the 8th of July. Technician came on the 29th. Delay was because of Openserve insisting for two weeks that they can't find my address. Vox consultant called me after hours (without any query from my side). He located my address on a map, then sent screenshots and address to openserve. They were here like 3 days later.

Openserve technician did not bother to test modem with guest account. Simply called whoever, gave them the new "number" and insisted the line is activated, and said to get vox to send me login details. Vox sent me my existing fatpipe login details lol.

48 hours later i am still waiting for new details. I did speak to Alex from Vox earlier today. He was the 3rd person to tell me it will be escalated but i am inclined to believe him, as he was the one to realise that the line is not active. He took the new number and checked. Will let you guys know how it goes. Hope i get it in time to stream the grand prix this weekend.

Ps. to anyone wishing to call the tech support and not lose four minutes following voice prompts and still reaching the wrong department, dont dial the number from the webpage (0530). Use 087 805 0500. When the guy starts listing the options - press 2, and on the next list press 4.

@rockNsurf if you on 20Mbps or higher and want the account to be modulated as vdsl you're in for a treat. The DSL support guys don't know what that is and they put you through to sales... They were telling me that there are cost changes because it's a different product.

They're dead wrong. (By the way, what router make/model do you have?)

I know. I was shocked. I had multiple calls from Vox trying to figure out what I wanted because of the back and forth between DSL support and sales.

Asus DSL-AC52U

Yep, so now Alex is on a call. Gage doesn't know anything about anything. Sales has 54 calls ahead of me, with a 64 minute wait. Lovely. Now I see why it took a week to provide @rsa-ace with a login

Got this from VOX this morning after applying for pure DSL almost 2 weeks ago, there is dsl in the area, there is a 20m vdsl line going to a business on the same premises.

I Trust you well and keeping safe.
Kindly be advised that the request for Vox Uncapped Pure DSL on the below address, is not feasible as there is no DSL Pure connect solution available.
Should you require an alternative solution, Please advise in order for us arrange one of our consultants to contact you.
I have the same reply from Vox. I just cancelled my Adsl line from Telkom a while ago. The copper lines are still in place. My neighbours still have Adsl. So what's the problem.

Forgot to update: my pure DSL got activated on Monday. Very happy with it. Speed tests show about 3.6Mbps down on average, but no issues with streaming, torrents etc.

@MoDesai: check if fibre is available in your area, or coming soon. In that case this service won't be available in your area. If not, then call the sales guys and ask for Retienne. He's the guy who sorted my address with openserve.

That's absolute rubbish. When the Openserve technician came to activate my Pure DSL, it was originally on ADSL modulation. When I asked the technician to please switch it over to VDSL he made a quick phone call to Openserve and within a minute my line dropped and resynced to VDSL modulation. I recommend that when the technician comes, you don't let him leave until the modulation has been switched over to VDSL. It sounds like it's a nightmare to get it switched over afterwards.

I just had pure dsl installed - ordered with vox on the 19th August and installed and activated today 28th August. I asked the tech to make the line VDSL, but he said he couldn't... :( I wanted to future-proof it in case I wanted 20 meg in the future.

Either he's a liar or your exchange does not support VDSL. The technicians absolutely have the ability to change the modulation. It just takes one phone call to the Openserve back office by the technician and they can have any aspect of your DSL profile changed.

I think he was just a bit clueless. I'm on the newest ISAM in the exchange, so VDSL shouldn't be an issue.

Actually I just read your post again, and if I remember correctly Openserve won't change the modulation to VDSL if your linespeed is less than 20Mbps. That could be the issue. I stand to be corrected, but I'm pretty sure someone else posted a similar problem elsewhere on this forum, and that was the issue. In any case, if your linespeed is less than 20Mbps there's little benefit from switching to VDSL. Once you get to 20Mbps though VDSL gives you a much higher upload speed. On a 20Mbps ADSL profile the upload speed is 1Mbps, while on a 20Mbps VDSL profile the upload speed is 5Mbps.

Yep. I used to have VDSL, a year or two ago. 20 Mbit, was great. Went to a wisp, not altogether happy. Now trying out naked ADSL.
