Vox pure dsl

Oh boy ... well you can still un-cancel with Afrihost before the 22nd, if I recall correctly.
And advice here, @cavedog ? (Hopefully @hennie71 sees your reply before he will be without Internet access for weeks upon weeks upon weeks - who knows?)

You can un cancel a service at anytime even during billing run. The system will just generate you a new invoice that includes the un cancelled service.

So has anyone been successfully connected via this pure adsl yet? I haven't heard anything from vox or openserve yet. On vox's wesite my order still says "provisioning"

I'm still on provisioning and it's driving me insane. I contacted support countless times and no help still. Think I have to cancel.

I placed my order on the 12th. Still stuck on provisioning. But I got an email two days ago from someone at vox saying he is handling my order and wil keep me updated every step. Gave me an order number from the upstream provider and said it will take between 2 and 4 weeks.. I hope there's no headaches ahead

Hi man

I was lucky enough to get my line installed on Thursday. The biggest issue I realized was that Openserve just doesn't want to provide good service. The techies that came out were brilliant but Openserve's head office / call centre is in absolute shambles if you ask me.

I've got no doubt that Afrihost/Vox/etc. really want to do business but Openserve is hindering them by taking longer than 2 weeks to do the installations.

Most people don't want to wait a month to get internet access and until Openserve doesn't get this right I don't see Pure-/Naked DSL being successful...

If you do have the patience to wait it out I am sure it will be worth it, I couldn't handle the 60GB LTE data. Just to little when streaming 4 - 5 hours a day and gaming in between...

Good luck with the process I know it's frustrating as hell

Totally agree with you. Openserve/telkom is a nightmare. I've had such bad experiences with them before.
The guy from comms global who installed my line last time was top class and even the telkom shop here in Mosselbay gave excellent service, but the bottleneck is higher up in other departments.
I thought about lte, but it's too costly considering the size of xbox updates and watching YouTube and Netflix. And no idea when fibre will come to Hartenbos.

I'll try to be patient and wait it out, hopefully it will be sorted soon. Waiting a month won't kill me

Is there any connection fee involved? They don't specify on their site.
Update: I spoke to a consultant. There is no connection fee.

Success! Technician phoned me this morning, he was standing in front of my house, they didn't make an appointment so I was not home, but luckily he could do the changeover at the telephone pole. I emailed vox and informed them of the installation, they sent me the login details and my line is working. I applied on the 12th of last month.

I'm on the 4meg line. Speed test gives me a ping of 45ms and download of about 3.5Mbps.
I'm used to a 2 Meg line, so I'm happy.

Mine was activated today. On VDSL profile and was looking forward to 5mb upload but.....

Cant understand why I cant get more than 1mb upload when my attenuation on upload is 9db.
20mb download is amazing though! Loving it.

Can see my max download is 30mb too but syncing at 20 odd. Strange. I would be happy to pay for the up to 40mb service to hit that 30mb.

Originally the profile was set to ADSL2+ and modem reported distance to exchange as 1060m. Havent had ADSL before so I'm not sure. Would love to take full advantage.

Contacted Vox sales on 19th June (almost a month ago) to get info on moving to their Naked DSL which is available here (currently have great performance on 20 Mbps VDSL - with lines provided by Telkom and Vox as ISP). On 7 July got a repose asking if I "have been assisted?" I responded "no" and asked for assistance. Haven't heard back since. Terribly frustrating service. Guess I should try the Afrihost route...

For those who have managed to get set up, is there much downtime? I already have a dsl line so they would just need to come and switch it over to pure connect I'm guessing?

I'm working from home and can't afford days of downtime so if in theory it's just a few hours then all good.

Are you sure that Router supports VDSL?

Where is your screen showing the actual connection modulation?

If you paid for 20Mb it will only sync at 20Mb, regardless of the potential rate.

It does and next to Line Standard:

Aaah right you are.

But likely someone still hasn’t done their job and unlocked the upload.

I recall having the same issue when I first moved to VDSL.

What did you do to get it sorted? That extra upload would really help! Vox seems to think that is all im going to get.

On the website they say your current landline and adsl must be cancelled before applying for pure adsl. I put in my cancellation with telkom and Afrihost and immediately applied for pure adsl. End of the month my telkom line cancellation did not go through because the Afrihost adsl line was not cancelled in time.
But then the telkom technician came out and still did the changeover for me. Afterwards I emailed vox and informed them that the installation was done and the line was tested and working. They sent me my login details that same day and I was up and running. So I had no down time at all. Just have to pay for an extra month of my old service because of the 30 day cancellation notice.
