Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Third hop does appear to be an issue though, and according to whois, that is certainly a Vox IP:

Code:
Tracing route to www.mybroadband.co.za [104.20.72.110]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms home [192.168.0.1]
  2 10 ms 9 ms 9 ms dsl-197-245-130-1.voxdsl.co.za [197.245.130.1]
  3 2530 ms 2514 ms 2516 ms 41.193.121.37
  4 10 ms 10 ms 11 ms 41.193.121.38
  5 12 ms 10 ms 10 ms 196.41.29.233
  6 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms 41.193.120.121
  7 179 ms 178 ms 178 ms 196.41.24.174
  8 179 ms 177 ms 177 ms ldn-b3-link.telia.net [213.248.100.161]
  9 178 ms 239 ms 178 ms ldn-bb2-link.telia.net [62.115.134.138]
 10 178 ms 180 ms 178 ms ldn-b5-link.telia.net [213.155.132.197]
 11 178 ms 178 ms 178 ms cloudflare-ic-306325-ldn-b3.c.telia.net [62.115.42.242]
 12 178 ms 178 ms 178 ms 104.20.72.110

The IP is ours, but the infrastructure is Telkom's.

We, as does every other ISP in South Africa, provide Telkom with an IP range for our DSL subscriber base and Telkom uses those IP ranges. Hop 3 = Telkom Upload VLAN to our IPC. Our IP or not, that hop is Telkom.

Thanks for the PM cvanwie, appears I somehow did go over my 150GB! Despite scheduling my downloads for 12-6am :D

Will have to be more careful next month ;)
I told you, Vox is so awesome you don't even know how much data you're moving.

Internet all kinds of fooked in George today at numerous clients.
Outgoing mail on multiple isp's dead all morning.

Vox at home porked that hearthstone keeps dc'ing at the moment.
As if 37deg C isn't rad enough ;)

Curious that it's so quiet on the forums though.

This showed up on my account:

I think they are just busy correcting everyone's usage and will be ready for the 1st of next month, this is just my guess.

Hmm. Does this mean they are going to start limiting the amount of Zero-rated data I wonder? Sure sounds like it, otherwise it would rather say "Zero-Rated Data Used" rather

I assume they would use an unreachable arbitrary figure as "Zero-Rated Data Available".

It's confusing that their website doesn't at all mention the zero-rated data between 12am-6am.

It is confusing.

I for one would have been happy to have a zero-rated total that I can subtract for now from my current capped usage to give me some idea of where the actual usage stands.

Right now it is all just added to the cap with no way of telling just where I really stand.

Cannot wait for this to be fixed.

its on the website, 2nd banner and in the T&C sheet....

what speed is your line? What are you being limited to?

Think i'm experiencing the same thing.

Sorry for no reply yet. 8mb limited to 4mb. I got a port reset on the line, and everything came back to normal.

Great traces! This shows that the Vox network was consistent. Once it leaves our network, I'm not sure what you are expecting.

Hop 1 = your house
Hop 2 = Telkom dslam/exchange
Hop 3 = Telkom Upload VLAN to Vox IPC
Hop 4-7 = Vox network
Hop 8+ other providers.

I cannot say this any differently. Vox does not control nor can influence Level 3 nor Hetzner. Contact those providers to complain about their latency. This is not a Vox issue.

Chris, let me show you something - or perhaps pour a bit of petrol on the fire since it's nearly November. I would love to see your explanation for this phenomenon.

We know that Axxess are having trouble and their status light is red today. So if this hop rule of yours applies, the exchange is a problem on Axxess, but not on Vox ?!?

@AntiGanda

Your testing method is wrong, don't test it when Vox (the ISP you want to use) is fine, test it when it's broken. Otherwise you're leaving a dependant variable fixed, when it's the thing you should be testing (not the other way around)

I'm having problems since 11am....sent support all required tests.... Frustrating as hell

I was asking the other Vox rep. :erm:

I normally don't respond to trolls, but I'll make an exception. Axxess are having issues, so I used Vox as a comparison. I'm keen to get an explanation if you will allow Chris to answer.

Then enjoy never having good Internet. I won't comment any further.

How would I sign up to Telkom FTTH(preferably without their data) and use my fatpipe instead?
Depends if your fibre is community or not. Some offer a bunch of ISP's whilst others only one. Our Telkom effort appears only to have one expensive, but fast option.

It's a place I'm looking to move into, all I know is that it's the magic dark purple on the Telkom Coverage for FTTH...

EDIT: I see I can get 50GB at 10Mbps for R649(with an installation fee of 1710 AND a 24 month contract) as well as "free" random **** I don't want or need, BUT I already have a 150GB Fat Pipe account, so is there an option for installation fee+line rental that I can use my Fat Pipe on because that installation and 24 months is mad.
