Vox Telecom Fatpipe

You sure don't ask a lot do you ;)

1. Not even sure what their promises are, but on the home fatpipe account, everything always seems fullspeed. Torrents included.
2. Something went wrong once, and they fixed it quickly. But no dedicated status platform AFAIK, which I do think is a bit ****, but honestly, there was just that one time, so I haven't particularly missed it. Can't say what the future holds ;)
3. Sure.
4. No clue, I signed up for one of their promo accounts for 200GB pm which at some point converted into a 400GB account. Their rollover means I have more data than I know what to do with (currently sitting at over 2.7 TB's).
5. Mine's on auto-credit card payment, no issues there.
6. Is that even a thing?
7. Has been the case for the past ~2 years or so...
8. If your exchange in congested, ain't no ISP that can perform miracles there!
9. 2 concurrent connections allowed on fatepipe home according to their T&C's.

Sweet, thank you pal!

Should have asked for your dealer reference number - might get you a small comm :). Send it anyway, I'll send itto them and ask them to credit my sign up to you.

Lol sry, just noticed this now. I'm good though - hope it's working out for ya!

On another note, just tried to stream some Twitch gameplay for the 1st time in a long time. I couldn't stream on anything higher than 'medium' (which is pretty awful - looks like 360p) quality without buffering. Am on a 40mbps VDSL line ...sup with that VOX?

No issues streaming 1080p Youtube vids though...

I've heard people in South Korea with 1Gbps connections have problems streaming Twitch.

Download Streamlink and Streamlink Twitch GUI.

Edit: Just to make sure I wasn't lying to you I just tested it, I finished a PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS stream I watched for a couple of minutes at source quality, it didn't buffer once and immediately used my full 20Mbps line speed.

Wow okay thanks, I'll give it a go ...doesn't youtube (google) own twitch or something though?

EDIT: Okay, it's Amazon I see. Screw em.

Okay, so I tested that Streamlink thing out, if it's better at all, it's only marginal on my side ...still can't stream source quality without lotsa buffering :/ I'm getting 39.06Mbps on Speedtest.net.

Perplexing... if the issue is with VOX, then how come it's fine for you (I assume you're using VOX?) If the problem is a line or congestion thing, how come I get pretty much full line speed on Speedtest?

Open Streamlink Twitch GUI - Settings - Enable advanced settings.

Now go to the third tab, it should be called Streamlink, then set stream type to rtmp and HLS segments to 5.

Apply the change and test again please.

I was not the person requesting info but as your explanation was so good I tried it out.
I have looked at twitch out of interest before and never got a reliable stream on any ISP.
Following your instructions I now have two separate streams, at source, in two instances of VLC Player on an 8 Meg line with no buffering :)

No Idea what I will need it for, as I am not a gamer, but as a techie it is nice to have the knowledge.

Have a Rep Point, this info deserves it.

Can someone post a speedtest to speedtest.net's New York server? I'm interested in the ping response because i have a client who has a 1gbps link with Vox and the response times are horrendous.

How horrendous are we talking here, my ping with VDSL is 254ms.

500+ But download speeds gradually max out at 700Mbps, upload max at 150Mbps.

I wouldn't complain, but this guy is a real sticker. and i get where he's coming from, paying for a 1Gbps service and not getting it.

Local traffic is 100%

Ping 231ms
Download 0.00 Mbps
Upload 0.81 Mbps

Not sure I like this new speed test interface, but that my result for what it's worth.

I'm glad you found it helpful.

I've been telling people to use Streamlink or more accurately the original project called Livestreamer for years. With the amount of times I've seen people ask about Twitch over the years I really think ISP's should have this advice in their FAQs or help section.

Wow okay, been running a couple streams now on source quality and so far so good. Awesome man, shot so much!

Not too bad:

Thanks!

The reply i got from Vox is that the link from CPT ------> International runs to London via undersea cable and the ping response time to there is 140ms. They simply cannot guarantee what happens after data leaves their infrastructure.

Explain to your client with a 1Gbps line your line no longer becomes the issue, the servers do. Remember not too long ago when Google launched their 1Gbps fibre they used their own in house speed test and servers to demo with because no other reliable fast enough server existed.
