Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Is there any reason why my Linux updates are crawling? Everything else seems fine, though.

Here are some of the URLs I've tried:
http://ftp.wa.co.za/pub/archlinux/
http://mirror.one.com/archlinux/
http://archlinux.polymorf.fr/

I'm on a 10Mbps line.

Yep ADSL, are the issues mainly VDSL related?

From what I've seen, it seems that the latency issues in Cape Town seem to be directly related the VDSL enabled/ready exchanges and the way Telkom is handing off the network to us through them. We have an open fault with Telkom regarding this and we continually are pushing them for resolution. We're doing everything that we can but we are at the mercy of Telkom here.

Thanks for letting me know and confirming my assumption.

Also having hectic lag to EUW LoL servers tonight, unplayable had to switch over to WA

We can't fix Akamai ... That's like saying you won't buy at Spar because chickens don't eat spaghetti.

Although, I would say that the problem is due to the network failure we are experiencing right now. As soon as I get word on the resolution, I'll update.

Hang in there.

The problem is that I believe that Vox have issues with routing to Akamai/Apple (and have had for a long time - this is not the first time I have complained about this). So that *IS* something you could fix.

The minute I connect with LTE (Vodacom) then the phone and iPad can access Apple iStore/iCloud. But wifi via Vox - no go.

Having said that though, I will wait for the resolution of the network problem and we'll see.

I'll see if I can share more details about Akamai but it won't be until Monday. The part I can share, is that it would be nice if Akamai would have spent money on 2nd hand equipment instead of what they are using. Also they don't understand peering in South Africa and don't spend time listening to what the ISP community has to share with them.

We aren't close enough to Akamai to make life easier, Vodacom and I believe IS are though.

ayyy lmao, in your opinion will this get fixed before Monday?

Until we have word on what the problem is, I can't say.

It could be a number of things, and once it's identified, we will then know how long until resolution.

Once again, issues with connecting to Apple (Akamai?) servers/services.

So tired of this. And it just seems to be completely ignored.

I am really starting to re-consider my decision to go with Vox.

You still unable to connect? I connected a few times this evening. No issues this side. In fact, haven't had issues for a long time. Then again, I don't use VOX's name servers.
