Vox Telecom Fatpipe

It is slvr, Dankbanker, throwaway420 and mIRC. :) Very easy to tell, as he types like a retard on all 4.

The allegations aside, you realise comparing myself to a mentally challenged person is not only disrespectful towards them, but disrespectful towards me and I ask that you retract such statements.

OK, so around midnight international gaming is a no-no once again.

Tracert is timing out to any destination.

I guess this fix didn't come about or it wrecked everything?

AntiGanda,

Since you didn't include any trace, I thought I'd do it for you, from your email:

I'm not sure where there is a problem in any of these.

The time outs aren't a sign of a problem (as explained a number of times). It could be a time out, it could also be a network device which does not permit ICMP traffic.

177ms to the UK, 190ms to Germany, and 279ms to Dallas, USA; all very good responses.

Would you mind sharing with me what you think these traces should look like? I'm very keen to understand the gap between what you think it should be and what it is.

Thanks in advance AntiGanda.

Inexcusably slow speeds on Vox at the moment. Got them to reset my account but it only fixed it for about a day. Can barely load Youtube.

Thank you.

In another thread cvanwie says I'm the only one with problems in Cape Town. Seems I'm not alone.

I've just had a chat with a telkom person who says it's my ISP. Round and round we go ...

Having the completely opposite experience in CPT. Best Vox has ever performed for me both during and after office hours after the latency fix was implemented. Youtube starts playing before the page has actually completed loading in its entirety.

Thank you.

AntiGanda, let's keep things factual please? I said it seems like you are the only one as no one else had complained. Then some time later, someone else complains without any trace route. So at the time I posted, it was an accurate statement.

Have you tested on any of the free accounts (Afrihost, MWeb for example) in the market or just Vox?

I don't know why there is drama surrounding you - are you an official rep?

What IP must I tracert?

He is not an official customer support rep. But he works for vox, and doesn't mind helping us.

Cvanwie will probably want a tracer to youtube, since you are having trouble with youtube - as you stated. Others you could try are mybb, twitter and maybe bbc.co.uk

Chris is not an official Rep, he is the network Architect who, out of his passion and love of his work, goes the extra mile by trying to help out, in his own time, with technical issues. If you want an official rep PM Voxy or call the support line.

But in all honesty, I would listen to chris and take his word as law.
It is rare that we get to learn from a man of his standing in the industry.

You're on a different system. I can see that with your 2nd hop timeout, which is not a problem by the way.

What DNS are you using? It's pointing google cdn to US/EU servers

It will, because the site itself will always serve its page content from there. Tracing youtube.com is all but useless in terms of tracing performance of YouTube videos which serve from the CDNs, caches, and/or actual servers depending on the video and ISP...

If your second hop doesn't display, simply ping telkom-bras.vox.co.za (will only work while on a DSL line).

That means that you are on Telkom's Alcatel equipment instead of the Huawei. Nothing major, just the equipment doesn't allow ICMP traffic.
