Vox Telecom Fatpipe

That is from the Guy at Support using the 100 mbps line.

Problem is the Hop that Times Out but anyway will live with it for now..

Line speed has nothing to do with latency.

That hop seems to be outside the their network though so I doubt very much they can do anything about it.

I get around 197ms when I play League of Legends on my Vox account which I'm very happy with. That's on 10mbps ADSL.

People need to learn that a timeout on a traceroute is not necessarily packet loss or extreme latency, but could just as easily be that hop not accepting ICMP requests.

OK my line has gone to pot again tonight. Tried some Plugg details in the router and bam problem solved. Definitely looks like it is a Vox issue.

Well at least now I know who to talk to about this.

Good Morning porchrat

Ive sent your trace to our core team.
Ill do a follow up in a bit then let you know.

Michael

It's important to stay connected for some time to the alternative account. Connecting up to different accounts can temporarily alleviate line/exchange/equipment issues, which makes is incorrectly look like the ISP is at fault.

This isn't a timeout. This is 600ms ping and 30% packet loss on a hop.

Can anybody tell me how to activate the Bolt On Uncapped for the Fat Pipe lite? I just purchased the Fat Pipe lite now, and cant get hold of anybody sales to activate the Bolt on Uncapped? Is there a way to do it myself on the dashboard maybe?

OK I've been asked to do a pingpath to mybb and here are the results:

pingpathmybb.png

As you can see when not on peak times the line seems okish. Still some concerning packet loss and some high pings on some hops every now and then but that troublesome first hop seems alright.

Thanks Michael much appreciated. Just glad someone is looking into the issue :)

Does this response takes the place of a response to the support ticket or should I expect a response on that as well?

Hi Porchrat

No the support ticket will be addressed separately. It's been assigned to an engineer for investigation.

Hey Voxy.

Do you really have to pay R50 set up fee every time you add a new product or something, even if they almost identical products?

Hi Joka

Unfortunately yes.

Line speed has nothing to do with latency.

I get around 197ms when I play League of Legends on my Vox account which I'm very happy with. That's on 10mbps ADSL.

VOX Support tested from their 100 Mbps to verify what I am getting so that cancels any Line issues out from my side as they could hardly do any better from their Lines vs my 10 Mbps line.

Yes we know that already and was following advice from here:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/629191-Vox-Telecom-Fatpipe?p=16424263&viewfull=1#post16424263

To log it as a Support Request so that VOX can take it up with the Outside Network.. "escalate high latency with Telia peer in London to the Advance Core team"

My Problem isn't gaming it was with the Bad Latency when watching Vimeo Streaming Videos vs Youtube and the slow Download Speed when Loading/Buffering videos from Vimeo.com, anyway like I said before will just live with it as it seems to affect all ISP's that I tested with...

I've told them this before, but they aren't listening.

Try not to do plots or traces to MyBB because they use Cloudflare and the results are often messed up.

Yes I agree that is possible but that is why I posted it here and took it up with support to investigate..

I've finished the import of the missing data. If you believe that you are still missing data, contact support (http://www.voxtelecom.co.za/support) -- please note that the Carry Over data won't be updated until later in the day (this is display only, the back end has been corrected)

EDIT: Carry Over has been updated on the front ends. (3pm)

Much Appreciated !
