Hi there!
I have recently embarked on a mission to setup a VPN network between my main pc and any pc when in the field. Using a Huawei 3g card as the internet interface I have created a new user account with the relevant admin rights and setting the workgroup name. Because of the modem the ip addie is dynamic I therefore use Dynsite to have a point of reference to my main pc. I dropped the firewall on the connection for the time being and made sure port 1701 UDP and 1723 TCP is indeed open. I have also made sure the pc's connection ip is in the same group.
Problem: I still receive a Error 800. When I ping or tracert the ip I receive a time out from any another pc either 3G or ADSL. I have spoken to Vodacom requesting them to open all parts on my connection, which they claim they did, but still have no success. Common knowledge tells me I should have been able to ping the pc but no I can not. When I do the exact same setup on an internal LAN I have no problems connecting.
Some suggestions and pointers will really help.
