Hi All

If my company has a VPN server running on a 4MB DSL business package, what speed should I be able to get when connecting from home? I seem to get max 25KB over my 4MB line. Is this right?

I asked that question at work but the guys says there is no port shaping in place...

Is the server running on the ADSL line? Remember ADSL's upload is much slower than its download speeds so that might be slowing you down too.

There's no real way to check port shaping, it all comes down to what account you have, what ISP and account do you use at home?

It'd be something your ISP does... You'd have to find out from them if they're shaping the port you're doing.

4Mbit = 512KByte line. Can't remember if ADSL is MegaBYTE or MegaBIT.

OK cool - I check with my ISP. Thanks guys.

No need to check anything.. your transfer speeds are exactly what they should be.(limited bu the upload speed of your company ADSL)

Thanks for all the replies guys...makes sense to me now - learned something new today :D
