VPN setup in Router

I signed up with Express VPN and have set up my account on my IPhone and it works perfectly fine.
I do however want to test if it can be set up in my router. Unfortunately my router which was ISP supplied (TP Link EC220) has the Open VPN option but I am unable to set it up-according to the ISP and Express VPN.
Do you have any ways how i can do this.
Or even, do you know if this will improve gaming where we don't have Local Servers in SA...

so i should cancel the Express VPN? I am still within my 30 day period and want to see the best possible solution before i commit

No you're still going to get high ping if there's no local servers.
